That's very strange, I placed an order earlier this week on Monday and it was still available and I did add it.
It's terrible that they continue to remove options..

Well, BMWNA has a different story than you, and this is has happened to me multiple times over the last 5-7 years ... Unless you work for BMWNA, BMW Manufacturing, or BMWAG, you might consider there are some gaps in those assumptions? Or BMWNA is lying ... but, if so, at least they're consistent about it!

It is currently missing in the BMW ordering system for the X3 and X5, but still there for the X6 as of Friday, didn't check the X4

BMW is constantly tracking and communicating with their suppliers, so has a good idea what is going to be available, and that can change, sometimes, rapidly. It's a very tough time for almost any manufacturing as both raw materials and various assemblies may not be available. Both Ford and GM had big lots full of partially assembled vehicles, waiting for chips to arrive. They did that to keep the assembly lines functioning and keep people employed, but tied up LOTS of money in the process, since they couldn't sell partial vehicles. Or, they decontented them, which dilutes some of the appeal, sort of like getting a vehicle from the rental car fleet. Trying to find alternative vendors is a time consuming endeavor when trying to validate and accommodate any changes that alternative might require, so is generally avoided. Time to rethink some of that, but it all takes time, and may not be worth the effort. Some places do not have access to vaccines, and keeping qualified employees to produce a reliable product at quantity then becomes an issue. Then, you have people that won't get the vaccine, even if it is offered. Way too many people have died as a result.

But seriously by all accounts, assembly is literally just one day and they keep the line moving. So there's a chance mine is already off the assembly line by the time yours is on the assembly line given that one day difference
Mine went into production on 10/12 as well. Since yesterday it's in "Awaiting carrier assignment. / A carrier has been assigned to take care of your BMW." state. Based on what my SA was saying few weeks ago, I expect it to be at the dealership (in Northern VA) some time this week. Hopefully will have it by the end of the week, or next weekend.

Once you see the body being built and then painted...you'll know it should be out of the factory in a day or two. Prior to that, it could be weeks after production begins status. To save some shipping costs, they may end up waiting for a full truck, or rail car going to the same general location...that is a random thing, so it can sit awaiting carrier assignment a bit. Mine was delayed, I think, because it was done just before Labor Day, and seems many truckers wanted to be home for the holiday, so it took a bit to get things back at full scale again.

Does the BMW SC assembly location 24x7 production or is it just normal business hours?

Also do you guys know if they are closed during Thanksgiving and year-end holidays?

Yep, transport network loses half to a full week when your delivery spans a major holiday. I once had a delivery span Thanksgiving, I think I lost 2 weeks.

They run 2 shifts and, yes, no holiday production generally, though I'm sure there could be exceptions.

The phases are:

Body shop (welding & gluing, 6 hours)
Paint shop (12 hours)
Assembly (attach pre-built components like the dashboard and a fully-automated fitting of the engine, transmission and chassis to the vehicle body known as "engine marriage" )

They also tend to use a lot contractors (vs FT employees), especially lately, which is a bit controversial ... perusing Glass Door is interesting ...

When they open the factory up for tours again (is it open?), it's more impressive in person. It's been over 10years since I was there, and I know it's gotten a lot bigger in the meantime. Did Euro delivery on one and toured the Munich plant along with the BMW museum, which was neat. TOo bad they stopped that program, although, I think you may be able to visit once the pandemic quiets down again. ON that one, I opted for Euro delivery, and had them deliver it to the performance center in SC rather than directly to the dealer afterwards.

Not sure, but we just got in a few Xs that the ETA was 10/13 yesterday. So maybe 10-14 days delay right now

This happened to me as well yesterday. When I talked to my SA on Monday, he mentioned the car has been stuck at the port for a while now, and hopes to have the car "shortly". I was hoping it would've gotten here by this week so I could get $1500 for the CA rebate. Now it's looking like I'll only get $750 and missed it probably just be a week =\

My SA just texted me and said my X5 is on a truck now being transported to the dealer! Should be arriving at the dealer today or tomorrow, and should be able to take delivery over the weekend =)

Just checked and it shows "At dealership". I guess the At the port means at the Richmond processing center and waiting to be delivered to the dealer.
