My 2019 X5 40i no Connect Drive or CarPlay in Panama?

I just purchased a lovely used 2019 X5 40i in Panama City. Really enjoying the vehicle. It's my first BMW. The dealer told me it had CarPlay but it seems like it does not. In fact I have discovered that it does not support Connect Drive at all. I understand this is needed to have CarPlay. I also believe that Connect Drive is not supported in Panama at all!
I tried to set up MyBMW but it would not allow me to do so.
I went to the main importer and asked about it and they told me they did not know if it could be upgraded to take CarPlay but would contact BMW in Germany to ask. 2 weeks later and they still say they have no answer!
I am very disappointed that I was misinformed by the seller and even more by BMW Panama's lack of knowledge or support.
CarPlay was an absolute essential element for us buying the vehicle.
I am really confused by this. Can anyone shed some light on the subject of Connected Drive and CarPlay for me.

So I got an answer to my question and it appears that this car was not ordered with CarPlay so it cannot be added. I am gutted! It was a big thing for me. I have read that there is a way to program it to accept CarPlay after the fact. Can anyone advise me on this please? I cant find any details on line.
