My 2017 540i had creaking noises coming from the sunroof and to a lesser extent from the doors. The dealer lubed the sunroof track and seals and that stopped it for a bit but it always came back. I used 303 rubber seal protectant on the door seals and all around the sunroof and it completely silenced them. You’ll need to reapply every month or so depend on environmental conditions but it only takes about 5 mins.

There might be a slight creak somewhere every now and then, but my LCI X5 is a HUGE UPGRADE from the Porsches I came from. The Cayenne in particular had so many creaks on every turn and terrible wind noise. The X5 even has an additional felt strip lining the top of the door frame to dampen wind noise. It is a much better product in terms of noise isolation than any of the five Porsches I owned. After testing over ten different brands, I actually went with the X5 for build quality and noise isolation and have been very impressed at this price point.

Hmmm...this wind noise started up about a month ago that I need to take it in for. Seems to be coming from the top of the driver's side door and most prevalent above 40ish mph. In my experience so far, it seems the more you pay for a car, the more issues it has. The rest of the vehicle is squeak free. A few other quality issues have popped up, but at least this vehicle hasn't stranded me anywhere (yet).

I have a clunking sound coming from the rear drivers side seat when driving over choppy pavement in the 15 to 30mph range. If I fold the seats down and back up, it goes away for a day or two and comes back. Very strange, appears to be related to the latch that secures the rear folding seat on the driver’s side. Anyone else experience this?
I also have an intermittent rattle coming from the led light strip in the passenger side door. It seems to have gone away as cold winter weather contraction, but it might return this summer as the heat causes expansion. Overall still a very quiet car and a pleasure to road trip in. |
