Hello everyone, noticing a ticking/rattling noise on startup coming from my 2020 M50i . Not sure if it’s coming from inside the engine (timing chain) or a belt tensioner / idler pulley. Also notice it when the cars under load at lower rpm’s. When the transmission is lugging i notice it more. Very hard to capture on camera and you can barely hear it but it’s been bugging me. I know this sound very weird but see if it makes the sound when you start it from inside, not using remote start. There was a software update on the g20s that would cause that same noise during remote start but not during a regular push buttom start done from inside.

Could be an exhaust heat shield making contact with the exhaust. Could be a loose heat shield, or the exhaust tailpipe is not hanging correctly on the isolation hangers and is cocked. That could happen on a lift if the tech is not careful.

Same sound starting from inside the car. Sounds like it’s coming from the front end of the car
