Bottom of seats too narrow?

Are the bottom (hip/thigh) bolsters too narrow? I sat in a couple of X5 Ms the other day and the bottom seat portions seemed pretty narrow. The bolsters were pushing into my outer thighs. The bottom bolsters didn't seem to have an adjustment, but I may have overlooked them. The side bolsters on the seat backs were very adjustable. I was surprised to experience that. I'm used to riding in an M4 comp and have no issues.

Nope...you are correct. They bottom bolsters are narrow. I feel the same, them pushing my thighs together. The seat lip is adjustable up/down and extends. But the width is not adjustable. Personally I find them uncomfortable but most people comment on how comfortable the seats are.

Completely agree. I sat in a new X5M the other day at my local dealership and couldn’t believe how narrow the seat pan was. I have the M50i and it too is a bit narrow for me, but nothing like the full M version. In fact, the new X5M seats would be a deal killer for me. Man, the one thing I miss about the Escalade I had 6 or 7 years ago was the nice wide, cushy leather Cadillac seats!

You think these are narrow, you should try the F97 Comp seats. I'm actually enjoying the additional width the F95 Comp seats provide.

6’4” 250 here and those body parts should be fine. It’s the outside of your thighs where it may dig in on ya.

I'm 6'6" and fluctuate between the high twos and (prayerfully) very low 300's. I was also blessed/cursed with abnormally large thighs/legs. Just picked up our X5MC about two weeks and and while a bit narrow it's not a deal breaker IMHO. The seat massage and other accruements more than make up for the difference in a regular X5 and an X5M/C, again IMHO. All my (smaller) friends and 5'2" wife LOVE the car. It's subtle enough not to look flashy but smokes assholes in Vettes, cars that Drip Oil Drop Grease Everywhere (here's lookin at you Dodge Charger) and the idiot in the M50i thinks he can keep up and gets SMOKED! I had to drive to central FL from the Panhandle (north FL) for a hearing and we made it comfortably with no problems. Did I mention my wife LOVES the car and massage seats. While YMMV, if the wife is happy and the car looks good a little extra space between the bat and balls shouldn't be a deal breaker. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do!

I was about to pull the trigger on a 2021 X5M today but the seats were WAY to narrow. I'm 185 pounds and 6 feet tall. Deal Killer.

Walked away. Sad day for me.

They aren't narrow.....I have an X7, too, and they are the SAME width (I measured because I thought the same thing when I got my X5M Comp).

It's the outer bolsters that are more narrow/sporty on the X5M whereas they are more "flat" (which causes them to be more comfortable) on the X7. The X5M ones do break in a little after you sit in the seat a few times but they won't ever be X7 comfortable.

They are narrow for sure, but it will loosen up, I bought my one with 5k miles and at start it was pain to drive it LOL but after few months on having it, I added another 5k miles on the clock and it's much better now.

I now have an X5MC and find the seats very comfortable. The concern I had when checking one out on the showroom floor was unfounded, at least for me. I don't have any issues getting in and out of the car, as others have noted in a different thread.

I had a similar concern, but turned out to be fine (actually really good). They loosen up and end up being darn near perfect.

Yes, too narrow.

This is my first post.

I bought my X5 new and now have 3900 miles on it. I've come to detest the seat. At 6-2 230lb I don't fit inside the bolsters. My left side sits directly atop the bolster and there's nothing I can do to relieve the pain that sets in after 15 minutes of driving.

I've bought and tried three different cushions and none work very well.

I've had enough. I'm going to sell the vehicle and buy something else.

I felt the exact same way and was at the same point going to sell. I finally got used to it and now it is all fine. Took me a couple months to settle into the new seats.

I'm 6'3" 225 in good shape not fat and I love the seats. I find the bottom bolsters hug you for sure but I love it. It's a performance car and supposed to hold you in place when taking high speed curves etc. That's the reason it's narrow and not supposed to be like the X7 which I had before this one or an escalade for that matter. This is a full M car. It supposed to be that way guys. I'm sorry to say. I for one love it. It hugs you in place when you push the car in turns.

Same here. I sold my g80 because of back issue and the 2024 x5m is way more confortable in every way. But like you said performance seat are meant to hold you tighter.

Buckets or non? I heard the non bucket seats were quite comfy in the G8x but I suppose given how this thread has gone, it doesn’t suit everyone. As a 6’1 225lbs fellow contemplating on an F95 to compliment my F87, I should try to get a feel of the seat and hope my muscular thighs enjoys the ride

I hear ya. No buckets. I think the g80 problem is more to do with the seating position of the seat vs pedals than the actual seat.
