Hi forum, I recently attempted to screen mirror (on my X5) & smart view (on my Android) so I can watch YouTube videos on my X5 NAV screen. I was successful, but the problem I'm having is that I see the video on my NAV screen for a few seconds then the NAV screen reverts me to Android Auto. I see a photo of a map on the right side of the screen & in the middle of the screen there's a caution symbol that states "please login to use Spotify" I don't even use Spotify. I tried to attach a photo of that screen and I see the attachment under additional options on this thread. No sure if you all can see the photo. If not please tell me what I'm doing wrong (sorry I'm new at this). Can anyone explain why the screen reverts me to the Android Auto/Spotify? and maybe a possible resolution? Thanks...

I figured it out today. I went into the setting and checked the Bluetooth box and it worked. Thanks...

Must be pre 2023 as those options are gone on my 2023. You playing youtube while driving? I can play USB drive videos while driving with bimmercode.
I got to get the bimmertech thingy for car play. 699

There is no difference between pre-2023 and the 2023's. Changes occurred with My24.

You will have to check with the OP since he was doing coding and may have enabled it. It could also be just the option in AA that he is referring to.

Unlikely but I guess it could be possible. I don't use AA/Android so have not paid attention to it.


Edit: Here are some instructions I found from a few years ago.

- Connect your phone to bluetooth as a new phone.
- In the setting on idrive for that phone, select allow wifi connections.
- in idrive, go to screen mirroring option. it will prompt you to connect a device.
- on your phone, select miracast, screen mirroring or smart view if its a samsung.
- it will search for compatible displays, from there select the bmw miracast.

Edit 2: I did see some posts saying it was removed from newer so your original info may be correct.

Anyone with a 2023 X5 have screen mirroring? 22?
I don't have it in my 23. Can't get it.
