Ordered 2021 X6 M50i

Well, I posted a couple weeks ago talking about ordering an X5 M50i and help with options, and I want to thank everyone for the help in spec'ing the car. In the end I went we went with the X6 M50i, this will be a car for me to use for the next year or so until it goes to my little sister as her first car. This is my first time ordering a new car, and probably been over 10 years since my family has, besides two Tesla Model X's but that has to be the least personal ordering experiencing of any new car for sale today. We decided to do PCD to make it a fun trip and get to experience the car on track, etc etc. We just got the production number on thursday, and I have been tracking it online!

I really hope its a 7-9 week wait like some people reported on the forum, someone I know who ordered an X7 M50i had to wait almost 4 months and really not trying to wait that long.

I ordered in January 2021 and took delivery first week of February for my X6 m50i. Couldn't believe how fast I got it. I had merino leather and CF trim so I figured it would take a month or two but nope. Love my machine! I'm sure you will enjoy it! The wait shouldn't be bad 😊 it will be here in no time!

Nice and congrats. How can I get in the family to get a hand me down car? HAHA.
All jokes asides a M50i is a lot of car for someone's first, assuming we are talking about a teenager with minimal driving experience. The BMW handles the horsepower well and the car doesn't feel like it is getting away from you but it still is a lot, coupled with the low visibility from the X6 rear window and overall big size and aggressive stance it may not be the best choice for a first time driver.

That is very reassuring! I heard that for 2021 they are a lot quieter then 20's, can you confirm that?

So while generally I would totally agree, we have been teaching her since 13, and the reason we are getting it this soon, is so for the next year while she has her permit we will drive with her on that vehicle, so for at least a year she will only drive it supervised and get used to the vehicle. Plus I really wanted a fun suv to use because the supra is a little impractical and I traded my truck in for the X6 since they gave me what I paid for it. I personally wanted an x5, think it looks better, but my dad fell in love with the x6 and last minute made that decision. Plus we got the same deal as we were getting with the X5. Besides the 500hp, the new bmw x vehicles I have heard are some of the safest on the road, with amazing build quality, safety tech, driver assistance features etc.

That is very reassuring! I heard that for 2021 they are a lot quieter then 20's, can you confirm that?

This is my first BMW and I could not be happier with my X6 m50. That being said I have not driven a 20 but I can assure you the road noise is nonexistent. Best ever I've own in a while! You will enjoy it!

Oh I know road noise will not be a problem, I am referring to the exhaust sound

Does anyone know if that acoustic glass they discontinued makes a big difference with the road noise? I actually like exhaust noise, but maybe I'm a little nuts...

Get the Ivory White leather scotch guarded right away. Some articles of clothing can case permeant dye transfer that will not come out.

I wish I could tell you what clothing items cause this but its impossible.

Congratulations 👏 that was a good decision. But ivory white is very fragile in terms of stains and marks. I had a M6 with Merino silverstone and if you are not really careful you will have marks on the seat and side bolsters very very quickly. It looks fantastic but I know why I choose now in the X5 brown.

Update, been tracking the progress online, about 2 weeks ago it went from order received to scheduled for production and did not move, but I just checked and now it went back to just order received????? how can it go back?

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago; then moved back to "Scheduled for Production" a few days later (although Build Week moved from Week 18 to Week 19...)

Car arrived last week... Picked up this evening, exhausted but will start posting photos and a full write up tomorrow morning. Just gotta say, this thing is AMAZING. BSM is greyish, ivory white is nice, but already getting dirty. 2021 exhaust is def quieter then 2020, shame, no more pops and bangs really. Self driving is not comparable to tesla autopilot but not bad. 4 wheel steering takes some getting used too. the H&K sounds great.
