I'm in the UK and tracked my order all the way through. Just use the Live Genius Chat on the BMW website and ask them for the order status. You just need your order number. I bugged them everyday once it had departed plant and was heading for Southampton on a ship. I pick it up tomorrow 😍

Can you give details on how you contacted them? I can find the web page where you type in a question and get a list of stock answers.

Use a PC and go to a car configuration page (any model) and scroll to the bottom of the page. There will be a blue box in the bottom right corner with the option to live chat.

My dealer has opened up a chat, my car has moved from production W17 to production W16 but they expect delays in the future.
Since all dealers are closed anyway their parking lots will fill up very fast with new cars they can't deliver so there will be a delivery queue at the dealer too.

Is that chat on the BMW Belgium website?

Do they expect that production in week 16 will continue? Or is that already the future with delays

The website of your own dealer, not BMW BE.
It has moved to W16 for now but they do expect delays but could not confirm this since they have not been told officially by BMW Belux.

No chat on my dealers website, only by mail.
Let's hope production delays are after W16

You really have no luck with your dealer it seems:-)
Let's hope they can keep the factory open and by the time the ship arrives here it will all be over, I hope.
I'll update the topic if I hear something new from my dealer.

I got a mail from my dealer that my car will not be produced on the foreseen date because factories are closed. It looks like a standard mail and I don't know if they know the car is produced in the USA. They only talk about European and South-African factories.
Maybe you can check your dealer if they know anything about this or maybe mail is not correct?

What's the latest news about Spartanburg?

For the US built cars this is not correct, only EU factories are closed.
No news on Spartanburg but I guess they are still running.

That's really interesting. At the very least, it means their local component inventory warehousing is pretty deep. If that's the case, is that a recent situation or has always been the approach? And if always, why then the massive pre-virus retrofit repair parts delays? Hm.

I honestly can't see this lasting long. They will have to shut down at some point because all other manufacturers in the area are closing.

Im going through a re-purchase so I was already in active conversations. The initial contact was through the toll free number to HQ. From there I was speaking with them - they had visibility into the current status.

I'm not so sure about their strategy. Feels a little like the spring break beaches in Florida. As soon as a worker reports a case of COVID it creates a more problematic shutdown than one that allows a pause to address weaknesses.

As three major U.S. auto manufacturers plan to shutter plants amid coronavirus concerns, a BMW spokesperson said production at the German car maker's Upstate facility has not been impacted as of Wednesday afternoon.

General Motors and Ford announced Wednesday plans to close all North American plants until March 30 at the earliest to allow for deep cleaning, and the Associated Press reported Fiat Chrysler will partially shut down factories.

The decisions came as unions pressured the companies to shut down production to promote worker safety, the AP reported.

Local closings and updates: Schools | Colleges | Grocery stores | Churches | Businesses & Events | Restaurants | Malls

In an emailed statement sent Wednesday, BMW spokesperson Phil Dilanni said the company has instructed nonessential employees to work remotely and has implemented social distancing and heightened sanitation policies at plants and offices, but he said production has not been affected.

BMW's 7 million-square-foot manufacturing campus off Interstate 85 in Greer employs roughly 11,000 people, making it among the largest employers in the Upstate.

Dilanni said the automaker has also suspended all travel, cancelled in-person meetings, removed all chairs and tables to promote social distancing, and is disinfecting the plant every day in response to coronavirus concerns.
