Travel & Comfort System - XM Seats??

Ok, I'm back with another attempt at this! It appears, to me at least, that the XM has the same seats as the F95? Looking at the back of the front seats, the top half appears to have a Travel & Comfort System in place. Something that wasn't available (At least in 2020) on our cars. Do you guys think we can retrofit this?

"A bespoke entertainment programme can be set up in the rear of the BMW XM with the Travel & Comfort System, which comes as standard. Rear passengers can use the quick connectors on the backrests of the driver and front passenger seats to secure the multifunctional holders from the Original BMW Accessories range. These allow, for example, tablets to be easily and securely fixed to the front seat backrests. USB-C ports are also integrated into the backrests to charge these devices. "

I believe it was available in 2020 but was discontinued along with NVA in 2021+. Considering the XM has all new electronics and other gadgets and gizmos I do not think it will be pnp if compatible at all. I took these photos the other day hopefully they help in some way:

Are you thinking of the rear entertainment option? Because I don't think these cars ever had the "Travel & Comfort" anchor points. Seems like a silly omission IMO.

Great pics though, seems like they stepped up their material quality!

Yes. Had it on our M50i but wasn't available for purchase on our X5M/C along with NVA.

Why do you say that? I looked closer and the head rest top might be different where it meats the upper back rest panel - which is, of course, the panel we would need.. is that what you’re seeing too?

The 2024 X5M Comp (in the US) comes standard with the travel and comfort anchor points like you see in the XM on the back of the front seats. (The seats aren’t identical, but the anchor point/cutout shape looks pretty similar)

Amazing, thank you. This should hopefully make it possible to retrofit for pre-LCI. Time to contact my parts place

Bump!

Perhaps I was a little too early with my retrofit thoughts...and focused on the wrong car!

The F95 LCI has the Travel & Comfort system. How do we retrofit it into the non-LCI? I can't seem to find any information about the seats on the 2024s on the usual parts websites.

I think it would be awesome to have a place to attach iPads or the small table for a laptop on long road trips...

The T&C system on the LCI also has a USB-C port on it, so even if you can retrofit the seat back and replace the parts the non-LCI won't be wired to power the USB-C. You need to wire it some hold and who knows if that can be done. You might ultimately will need to replace the entire seat if you want full functionality of the system and that's not worth it in my opinion.

I'd just hardwire it to the necessary power leads. For the most part, everything in the car operates at the same voltage and anything that steps down to 5V or 120VAC (not applicable) would be self contained. Meaning, you just feed it 12V and you should be good.

If that fails, I'd rather leave the port unpowered before considering swapping out seats. After all, I'm just after the T&C system.
