With the elimination of the mid grill, it makes it harder to place laser countermeasures. I sure hope the drive makes up for the buck tooth look.
If you remember Subaru and their grill on the Tribeca, this is eerily similar

Agreed... not sure what that's all about, but it's not good.

The shoulder line actually seems like a throwback to the original X5. I traced a line over the original X5 and you can see the resemblance. (refer to attached image). The new one is formed by a crease whereas the original was formed by the indent/bulge along the doors (can't think of a better way to describe it right now, sorry).
As a designer, I don't understand what people mean it is very 'un-BMW like' as new design elements are introduced from time to time otherwise things would be extremely repetitive wouldn't it? The entire original X5 was very un-BMW like after all. I'm looking forward to this X5 reveal, can't wait! |

When the current F15 came out I didn't like it at first, but then it really grew on me.

Rendering looks way off from the spy pics. I wouldn't expect it to look much like the rendering. Whoever made the rendering basically just put the big grills on a X3 M40i.

I’m a transplant from the G01 forum but really can’t wait to see this new X5! What’s strikes me most about this spy photo is the similarity to our new i30’s profile. It seems to be lowered similarily with some emphasis removed from the off-roading side of things. I could be wrong.

I'm on my 3rd X5 and can't wait for the new one. The lease on my 2015 X5 was up this past November. I would have normally leased a 2018 X5 but decided to buy out the lease to wait a year for the 2019 model. Lots to like about the F15 (interior, drive, tech) but I really have never bonded with how it looks. I much preferred the E70 LCI and still do a double take every time I see one on the road. Much sharper lines. The F15 is too bloated in the back, especially in black, where the black trim piece on the rear window gets lost. I'm super excited about the G05. The G01 is the best looking SUV out there right now, IMHO, so if the G05 looks anything like a bigger G01, it'll be sharp as hell.
I love the lines on this from this angle: |

I agree. Here’s a shot from above of ours. The G05 seems to be a scaled up G01, with I’m sure some amazing embellishments! |

Gorgeous car. Love the way they've lowered the car but also leveled out the lines so there is no downward dip in the front like the current X5 and previous X3.

Saw one today in NJ. Was the best shot I could get.

Possibly. But both will be built there, yes. They have expanded the plant for the 7.
