Wrapping will have the same issue, one rock and it looks like shit. I could've had mine wrapped but decided not to.

Not really tbh, Arizona has more and is actually way more firearm friendly speaking from experience. Texas is not really a gun friendly state in the way people think.

Try Cerakote.com and look for certified places around you.

registered has nothing to do with true ownership. Arizona has the least strict firearms laws in the country. None of my firearms are registered because they don't have to be and I see no reason for such a thing

The poster you corrected was referring to gun stores. Texas has 4 times the population if Arizona so undoubtably it has more stores and more guns. Legal/illegal .. registered/unregistered.. he was right.

gun stores, maybe, but not where I live. Also just being someone is an FFL that doesn't mean they actively sell firearms

This thread or that posters response isn’t about you or where you live. Just FYI.

Sacrilege to most here, but I ended up plasti-dipping the grille until something better comes along.

Failed at the Cerakote route after most shops wanted to keep the grille 6 weeks and almost $300 said and done.

I just had to google it:

Like Powder Coating, Cerakote is a coating we often get questions about. ... The unique formulation used for Cerakote ceramic coating enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness.

This sounds like the way to go.

I can't go back if i go all black!

Had to do one step at a time to see all my options for looks. I think it does give it a better look with the silver accents but do plan on the painting or wrapping them in the future.
Much to my surprise, thanks to you, I've shown the pictures you've taken to a few people, and all of them thinks the chrome bits are nicer than having all black. I truly surprised by their reactions so much so that I'm seriously doing the same as you for good. I originally planned to make it all black the moment I've collected my car in early May.

I guess they didn't like the "black hole" look, or rather as one puts it, the toothless look. In addition, mine is not M Sports, so it complements the other chrome parts around the car overall.

I think Cerium Grey is better than chrome but we didn't have that option

$300?? they're high apparently. All of the places here on charge $100 so I don't blame you. Looks good for now

I'm increasingly thinking this, also, and it's not a very expensive option at $180. The part number, posted elsewhere, but listed on RealOEM is BMW (51-13-7-454-888).

Thanks for the part number, I looked up google - most places listed in the first page don't have images showing up, although Real OEM is supposedly fairly reliable.

Anyway, the chrome grille is growing on me and the butterfly grille with CB paint is more looking like a bow-tie with a dark navy suit -gaah!!

Part of me wants to retain the chrome to match the shiny finished eye-brows on the headlights. Other part of me wants to tame it down a notch and at least have it in a pearl soft-satin finish in Cerium gray throughout and with the paint matching color in the middle to break the unibrow effect or butterfly wing effect. Another option would be to have only the inner sections blacked out, with the cerium gray outline and painted mid-section - IMHO this would blend better with the 21" Y M-sport wheels, tame the chrome and also avoid a full hole-in-the-middle look with everything blacked out .

Very subjective of course, but would welcome thoughts on this ...

I still like the separation of the kidneys... just got mine back from IND where they added some additional paint layers and ceramic coating... excellent customer service from those folks, much appreciated...
