It looks like it enables the tailgate features in the US (and maybe Canada).

It seems a regional update - those of us living on the other side of the world received this about 2 weeks ago from what I can tell.

Yes, it enables the tailgate functions in Canada as well.

It also lets you set the change the AC and circulation settings, and change the lock and unlock acoustical sound. You can change the volume, pitch, and the alarm sound region (North America, Great Britain, and Europe).

Other than that, there wasn't anything else other than coding the ASS that was available before.

I succeeded to code that (open and close with remote) last night. Works, but like the door button, you have to hold the remote down to fully close, otherwise it stops part way — good safety feature.

I coded a bunch of things yesterday on my car using the OBDMX adapter and bimmercode. Successfully coded the following:

- ASS setting to stay the way it was when I last turned the car off
- Disabled the seat belt reminder gongs (I don't care about the symbol in the dash)
- Coded the PDC Top view turn off distance to 30m and 15km
- Coded the tailgate to open and close via the key fob
- Coded the tail gate to close with a short press of the button on the driver side arm rest

One thing that I cannot understand is - Tailgate function when pushing the button in the driver door: There are 3 options - Unassigned, open, open and close

There is a 2nd line item that says Tailgate function when pulling the button in the driver door and this has 2 options within: Unassigned and close

Now my question is that if I select open and close with the first line item of "Tailgate function when pushing the button in the driver door" then the 2nd line item and function of pulling that button to close it becomes pointless, correct?

Thanks! I just used my Kiwi 3 adapter and was able to code. It doesn't work with my UniCarScan adapter

Some of these settings say they require OBDLink and I got the cheaper Veepeak (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I would have gone for the more expensive one had I known... oh well.

On another note: When I received my software update, it reset the ASS feature I had coded. I know I have to bring it back in for yet another visit, so I might hold off on programming all of these things again.

Yes, I have a software update apt tomorrow so I know all of this is going to be wiped out but I just wanted to test it out anyway. Total time for all of it is not more than 5-7 minutes so can do it again and again.

The only thing I'd be interested in doing is remote start here in the UK.

I am not saying anything except answering your question of which adapter I used I have no experience with any of the other adapters but I do know that Bimmercode themselves also recommend the OBDMX+ for full coding functionalities.

The OBDMX+ costs Rs 12000 (USD 173) in India.

Is there anything that anyone here knows, possibly someone from India, that I can get instead please?

Also, exactly where does this thing have to be attached? (Sorry for the ignorance!!)

I have the X5 X Line 30d manufactured in Jan 2019 and an Android phone.

Thanks for the replies.

OBDMX+ is currently $90 CAD. Would be happy to purchase and ship to you from Canada if you think that would be cost effective. It's a good unit with wide compatibility including in particular our G05 X5.

On left driver side cars, the OBDII port is below dash on the left of the steering wheel. You plug the adapter straight up. I've left mine permanently attached, doesn't fall, interfere with access, or any other issues.

How much was your X5? Are foreign cars still subject to 100% import duty in India or does BMW have a local plant now?

90 CAD is like 4700 INR........thats like next to nothing!!!! I would love for you to do it please, just have to be a bit economic with the truth while shipping it for customs purposes ;-)

Please DM me your details and we can figure out how I can pay you.

Thanks!!

They have a plant in Madras where the cars are reassembled. Not sure about the duties, but apparently it is cheaper to reassemble than to import the car itself.

The X Line is 1,01,75,000 INR (CAD 1,97,000 approx) on the road in Bombay.

A quick google search should point you in the right direction where this needs to be attached in the car next to the brake pedal

Just buy it from BimmerCode website where it points you to the links for various stores from a few different countries. Worst case have someone buy it for you and get it with them to India next time they are coming there or someone is coming there. Until then just live with the car as is.
