I have the same things, that just the card direction view for navigation.

Really? It's new on mine. Just showed up with the latest software update. It's always been blank unless I had an address entered for nav, in which case the direction cards (and then map near turns) would show up.

it's part of the July software push or 07/2019.XX I should say. I had the latest version before that which did not feature the change.

I feel like the above question was not answered by Tlon.

Tlon: can you please go to settings/Driving Assistance/Driving (l believe I am directing you to the right screen), send us a pic of that screen?

Thank you!

I did in post #39.

I do not have the checkbox menu option for Displaying Assisted Driving view when Driver Assistance is Active. I just have the Speed Limit and Steering menu options.

Clearly something else is going on with my X5 since my software update. There is something new in the center of the instrument cluster that resembles the grid and road lines of the video above. AndriodRobot (and likely others) already has this, so it's not new just new to me from the 3/2019.## update I had previously (as well as from the original 11/2018 version I had), which had a completely blank screen until a navigation destination was selected.

I tried nav tonight. The nav direct cards are oddly different from what I had previously as well. They don't always flow evenly back and cover the screen. There are times when I can see the "grid road" underneath, which was not the case previously. So, not sure if it's a bug, a buried preview of the driving assistance view in action or something else. But, it's kind of annoying.

Yep. I also have 07/2019.47 so I was like how can you get it and not the others 2019 owners.

I found this just now. If you turn off the map in the displays menu then it shows you the route guidance in that area.

I just took a picture of it in action.

Exactly. I mentioned that it's shows if you turn off the map in the instrument cluster and turn route preview view on.

But, I've always had the map off/route view on, and the "grid/road" is new as of the software update today. At least what is new is that it shows up even if I don't have a nav point set. It may have always been there behind the route cards, but the route cards always filled the entire center part. And, if I didn't have a nav point set, the center part was just blank.

Anyway, I've found a bug and not an assisted driving mode view preview, as I thought. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

We (07/2019.47 users) can have the Driving Assistance View screen on the head unit if we Code ours using the Esys. I am in the process of coding it using the Esys just like the others did.

Will keep you guys posted as I hunt it down. Thanks.

Good luck. Did you find the OBD2 port to plug your cable in? Took me a while the first time as they moved it compared to the F15.

PM me if you have any queries

Thanks for your help!
Placed the order for that LAN/OBD thing from Amazon. They delivered it yesterday to my door but I could not find any (misdelivered to someone else when they investigated). Amazon now sending me a replacement......

Edit: BTW, this is the item: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...3K69FZB4&psc=1

Those that have the Assisted Driving View (ADV) without coding i.e. a recent build with it pre-activated - are you able to set ADV so that is always displayed? Even when Assisted Driving is not active?

Replacing the nav preview display with ADV in the CIC?

In my X5, built mid-August, has ADV but it was not enabled in iDrive. I had to go into iDrive and enable it.

I have the Executive package and DAP.

Yes but can you set assisted drive in the CIC to always on?
Car-settings-display-instrument cluster-central display area?

Can you select ADV or is it just nav route options?

This is how I set it:

I check later today when I go out to see if it is on all the time.

Thanks

That turns it on when DA is active, but the settings I posted turn it on permanently, whether DA is being used or not.

My coding allows it to be turned on permanently, but I'm not clear if that is the default behaviour.

You shouldn't need to drive the car to check, just go into the settings menu for the Display.

Is this all you need to custom-code X5 iDrive 7 system? So you plug one end to ODB of your car, another goes into the laptop and then you download some software to code?
