That should change fairly soon and then a software update should provide full brightness and dazzle.

Still brighter than full LED headlights. I was using them this morning and toggled from manual high to auto. I could clearly see the difference because the center of my view was illuminated way better about 1/4 mile down the road.

About turn signal - they should work also, but only when driving and above 20km/h.
So this photo is confirmation that NON-laser lights (the standard LEDs) in Europe have functional cornering lights. US non-laser lights don’t have the hardware/reflector for cornering lights.

That means we are still at the point where cornering lights appear to be non-functional on ALL laser lights in both US and Europe. We have yet to see a definitive video or photo of functional cornering lights anywhere.

Also, FYI...the cornering lights should come on at a stop, not just above 20mph. One of the main purposes for them is to be able to illuminate a corner when you come to stop sign/light. This is the way the cornering light works on all other BMWs.

This is the guidance BMW has given to one G05 customer

"I took a photograph of one of our fleet M50d models for your reference. The light indicated by the orange circle turns with the steering wheel. Similarly, the cornering light highlighted by the red circle dims and brightens depending on the steering wheel position.

Perhaps when BMW disabled the "anti-dazzle" feature of the headlights at the factory for US cars they also inadvertently disabled the curb lights as well? A possibility I guess.

You have the laser lights? Please get some photos or video. The curb/cornering lights should come when: 1) The turn indicator is on or 2) the car is in reverse or 3) the steering wheel is turned sharply. Headlights must be in Auto mode and all 3 of the above should work when the car is at a stop.

Thanks!

If you could do a video like this, that would be awesome! This one shows them working on a M850i with Laser Lights. Also, when was your build week?

Any resistance in requesting a software update to activate the cornering lights? I presume by now many of you have them working.

I read on another thread a few weeks ago that this is a software-related bug. According to posters, a software update (done by the dealer, OTA updates are still unavailable) corrected the problem.

I had my software updated to 03/2019.60 which made the cornering lights "work". I still do not like how it is implemented - you have to do a full wheel turn to get them to turn on which ends up being useless.

On my 535, the lights come on when I have the turn indicator and the car starts to slow down letting me see the side ahead of time.

Oh well...

They exist on my 2018 Q7, and AFAIK on Canadian Q7s, and they work very well. NHTSA was never an issue or even a question.

Could someone please post a detailed pic of what the headlamps are to look like in the US if you have LED Fog and Adaptive LED headlights with the M Sport package?
