New transfer case

Does anyone have experience with having a new transfer case installed on their g05 50i? How has the replacement one held up long-term compared to the original? How likely is the new unit to encounter the same issue? Thanks

Mine's going in for service in a couple weeks, replacement is a TBD. I assume yours went in for the "shuddering" effect it causes and they replaced it? They started w/ the fluids first, correct?

Yes it's perfecto now. But I'd like to know if the new one is updated or what will make this one not mess up aswell. I plan to keep long-term and have extended warranty but want to be ideally fail free during the ownership.

Transfer cases usually break because of circumference differences between front & rear wheels due to uneven wear of the tires or changing only one axle, etc.

There's companies in Germany who have specialized in repairing those for around 1.000€ and I'd assume you have similar specialists in the US. So if you are out of warranty I'd highly recommend looking for them. Heck when comparing to BMW prices you could probably send your transfer case to Germany for less money.

Agreed, but this one appears to be fluid related, which makes it that much worse....

Mine is @ BMW being replaced as we speak
