Can you make an iPad 4 run iOS 13?

Is it possible to install the latest iOS software on an iPad 4th generation and be able to download new versions of apps? Through jailbreaking or some other method? Trying to breath some extra life into this device which is trapped at 10.3.3.

Thanks. That's the officially supported list...I was looking to see if anyone has "hacked" iOS 13 code to force it to be able to run on iPad 4. Heck I'll take iOS 12 at this point too. Using jailbreak methods or otherwise. Its not completely clear to me but through research I get the impression only supported iOS versions for a platform can be jailbroken but I'm still early in that discovery journey.

Also iPadOS is a different stream of code from iOS is my understanding and it being so new as a concept I hadn't thought of running it on iPad 4...

Totally understand your want to infuse life into your iPad but, to be honest, I’ve been largely disappointed by Apple’s latest update 13.3. Newer is not always better, and older operating software will still maintain a share of advantages.

I don't think you should jailbreak it in an attempt to get a newer OS on it. Just buy a newer one for like one or 200 bucks.

I got someone to get my original iPad mini to run on IOS 12 (couldn't get it to go pass iOS 9), but it got REALLY slow and crashed a lot. What boiled down to was that the hardware couldn't support the newer iOS.

The iPad 4 only has a 32-bit processor. There's a reason why it became a paperweight in the 64-bit world.....

Yes but I can't download some apps on the app store because they aren't supported on older iOS. That's really my motivation. iPad was free, I'm cheap and I spent all my spare money on motor oil and car mods 😂

Worst case I'll turn it into a web browser, e-reader slash jukebox with whatever apps I can muster.

You can trade it in for a new one that costs about $200 without trade in. Or cheaper if you go refurbished. Or get a used one that supports the latest OS. If you brought it before December 31st I think they had a promotion for 6 percent daily cash back but you will get at least 3 percent now and you get Apple TV+ free for a year (that's if you buy it from Apple vs. something like eBay or Amazon).
