Hi,

About to get a new 45e and would appreciate hearing from people who have installed a phone mount in the upper Center Console area, not windshield. I'd prefer magnetic over clamp and built-in wireless charging is OK but not essential. It does need to support a large heavy phone (iPhone 13 pro-max + Samsung S22 Ultra).

That's my F96 Sakhir Orange interior in the pics. Proclip is great for the actual phone holder. If you want the mount I suggest Atach mount https://www.atachmounts.com/BMW-3-Se...unt_p_121.html


their mount fits much better and actually snaps into the seem in the vent. The Proclip mount slips underneath the frame and will constantly come loose. The A-tach is much better designed and is solid. From what I can tell the owner of this company was a former designer for Proclip. Excellent quality same or better than Proclip. The Proclip phone holder is compatible the A-tach mount. i would also recommend getting a Proclip 45 degree wedge when you order if you decide to go with the Proclip and the A-Tach combo.

Does the phone get hot at all in colder months when you have the Heat on? Or would one need to close the that vent?

Also, does either the Atech or Proclip scratch the bezel of the vent at all?

No it does not get Hot i just close that particular vent in winter. I also keep it open when the air conditioner is on in summer to the keep the phone cool. No the A-Tach does not scratch, the Proclip may be more susceptible to scratching than the A-Tach, but both never scratched mine.

I have a Huawei Mate 20 now and ordered a S22U. I have the Proclip. I have this https://www.proclipusa.com/products/...-with-a-case-1. It's also for the S22. here a a couple pics of both. The one on the left is for rugged case and it is overall larger and and chunkier. They are both adjustable width wise. I don't have my S22U yet but have tried it with the Samsung Clear case, Samsung clear stand case, an Encased thin armor and Encased Rebel case and Spigen Ultra Hybrid and all fit with a little room to spare on the thickness. I would suggest the one on the right for mid to small case, unless you are using something like an Otterbox defender.

I'd recommend ProClip system, I've been using them last decade or more, best mount if you ask me.

i attached a 15W MagSafe charger to ProClip's Garmin ball mount then attached that to their bracket.

If you are going the magsafe route for S22 the Pitaka MagEZ Pro is good with their case or an Encased magsafe case paired with the MagEZ Pro for s22.

My ProClip bracket kept sliding off the vent every few days even with the tape. I then tried the A-tach mount bracket and it is so much better. No popping off and rock solid. I agree you can't beat the ProClip holder for fit. Pair that and the A-tach with the 45 degree wedge and the phone is positioned and angled perfectly for viewing.

I'm not sure about the S22 Ultra, but for the iPhone 13 Pro Max I use the Proclip Magsafe mount. It's an expensive setup for a mount, but it was the best option when I was researching for a mount that did not block the vents and supported Magsafe. You also have to provide your own Apple Magsafe charger.

MagSafe Charger Holder - I drilled a hole at the bottom of the mount to hide the cable behind the mount. I also had to add a glob of solder to the 12v charger it came with since the tip was too short to touch the bottom of the 12v socket.
Angled Extension Plate - Mount the magsafe charger to this plate.
Tilt-Swivel - Attaches to the bottom of the angled plate. Allows you to angle it in more directions to get a perfect view. FaceID works perfectly for me.
Console Mount - I didn't want to block an air vent. The tilt swivel attaches to this part. When clipping it to the console, pay close attention to where it is supposed to clip. Look at the photos they provide on the item's webpage.
4 2pk Cable Management Clips - Hide/tuck the cable in the cup holder area neatly.

more like a sensor, it comes standard with Adaptive cruise control, making sure someone is there

It's a crying shame, especially with wireless CarPlay, that the cubby isn't an inductive/Qi charger. What's up with that? Chip shortage affecting that?
