Yes, same for me ... frustrating to spend an hour or so doing a fine job, and then literally a few miles later that pesky dust is there ... and, repeat makes me wonder whether the X5M could have been offered with ceramic brakes (post #8): https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1786355

Just checking to see if anyone actually tried the OEM cross reference (Rear-34217991043 and Front 34108746107) to EBC part numbers (DP32320C-Rear and DP32331C-Front) cross reference for M5? Would be great to know if the aftermarket EBC pads are a match prior to purchase in the next few days.

i think someone had already crossed referenced and it works.. however with cheapo pads out there you may get dust removed at an expense of decreased braking.. i suggest waiting on pads that RG sport is developing which should have same feel/stopping power.
You can always go with Porterfields (i've had them on my F90) no squeal and brake feel / stopping same if not better than OEM however dust is just marginally improved over stock so i wouldn't recommend it as personally i didn't find it a worthy upgrade.

Ok, thanks for the insight. I had Hawk Ceramic Performance pads on my 2018 X6M and they were fine. Also, I don't track my vehicle so I think I may go ahead and try them out, at least on the front. Will order from Amazon so they should be easier to return if there are issues.

We've used EBC Red for several years on our 2009 135i. They've had surprising life and bite / stop almost indistinguishably from the OEM pads. Far far less dust. Having said that, I have doubt that there's enough initial bite and overall coefficient of friction for something as heavy as an X5M. I used a semi-ceramic on my Audi Q7 after the positive experience on the 135i, and really wish I had not. They had worse pedal feel and stopping power. Almost zero dust though.
On this platform I'd be more inclined to go with something like the iSweep 1500 or 2500 and trade dust reduction for stopping power. Having a number of folks here that have had good luck with that brand also lends some confidence, particularly since I'd never heard of them before seeing it on this forum. |
