24 X5m LCI Carplay Maps Problem

Anyone with an LCI has carplay problems with any of the maps (Apple, Google or Waze)? Mine works accurately like 3 of every 10 times used. I have restarted the system (and phone) numerous time and nothing. System is up to date. Any suggestions?

When waze freezes, simply open the waze app on the phone and it should start working on carplay

Its not waze its any map using appleplay (google and apple maps). My point will start going off from my actual location and it will start rerouting me as if I did go off the street.

On my 2024, I had to take it to service. Vehicle wouldn’t use any location settings. Nav, weather, nothing worked.

This is definitely a common BMW issue. I used to have this happen once or twice a week and I'd have to shut down Waze and restart in our M5 and X7. I thought it was a Waze thing until I got my AMG GT and it never did it once on MBUX.

It has to be related to the new idrive since my m3 2022 never have had an issue (idrive 7).

One easy way to rule in/out CarPlay (BMW) being the issue would be to disconnect from CarPlay and navigate just via your iPhone and see if the GPS remains accurately placed on the map or not. This would definitely clear up whether it's a phone/setting related thing or CarPlay/BMW thing.

For what it's worth this has never happened to me once on my pre-LCI.

Well the thing it works just fine in my wife’s suv, ots only in my car. I rent cars for work 1-2 times a month and never had an issue neither.

Mine is working perfectly fine but I also already have 8.5.

Considering all the issues I see with 8.0 I'd recommend an update to 8.5. With the issues you're having your dealer should be able to open a warranty case with BMW and get paid to do it. (Usually dealers don't want to do it outside of warranty works since BMW then won't pay for it.)

For now I turned locations services “on” for the maps app and havent had an issue in 3 days. Might have been the problem. Had location on when using only. Maybe that what it?

I see a very high probability that this was the issue, yes. I suspect carplay is using the maps app in a different way than your phone is using it when using the phone, so it could very well be that location services were blocked for the app. Great find.
