Photos. Also the 4wd works great. Saved me from skidding at couple spots on icy roads.

This is the photo where I was turning around on a narrow off road going up hill. Look at the sunset and Mount Hood captured by the camera!

Off Road and night vision

That looks great. Same color I am ordering. Can you show me what the underside looks like with the off road protection? Any comments on the night vision?

There is a reverse assistant that retraces the previous 155 ft by itself- great if you have to back up on a single lane road.

Which wheels are those?

As for Subaru Outback- its a great vehicle though I did get stuck going up my mountain driveway a couple years ago. See attached.

And these are my vintage off road vehicles.

I like the night vision. It will be more useful this summer when wild animals are out haha but for pedestrians it's great. I have not taken any photos of underbody yet. I have the 20" wheels with all season tires that came with it. Also, integral active steering is superb when driving along mountain roads and inside a parking garage. If you live in mountains, I would go for off road package.
Subaru is a great car and I was going to buy it but after test driving X5, I couldn't think of a Subaru. Moreover, everyother car in Oregon is Subaru which is another reason I didn't want to buy it. And recently heard the company is going through tough times with lot of recalls and issues.

Impressed!

I have driven the new X5 on the off-road test track and on the street and am very impressed. I owned a previous gen X5 and enjoyed it but needed a vehicle with adjustable height. Now that this has one I'm seriously considering getting one. My first choice is a Range Rover Sport however the lack of reliability and the frequent need for service is a serious problem. Nice to read the comments here.

For MY21, ZOR Off-Road Package no longer available. My understanding is that there wasn't enough consumer interest in the option.

I haven't seen any pictures of off-roading yet in this thread.

TFL does decent truck reviews but their review of an X5's off-road capabilities on a BMW-designed course was not great. They were pretty critical even though the X5 didn't get stuck anywhere.

This random Russian guy appeared to attempt some decent offroading and the X5 did not do very well.

Another real world demo of the off-road tech in action on a back-woods run on at 45:30

I hear some chatter about DSC issues with off road package and air suspension. Anyone have any info on it? BMW no longer offer this package is US? One of the owner reporting some concerns on this here:

BMW is still offering the off road package with air suspension and DSC in Europe. Seems to be more of a scarce supply issue which makes them prioritise this package for their high margin markets.

Aunt and old neighbor had Land Rovers/Range Rovers. Talked to them frequently (neighbor was every day). Loved the cars. Both had a lot of issues tho. The only reason they never really complained is cuz they're both stay at home moms with access to another vehicle when the Rover was in the shop. I haven't heard any differently from more casual acquaintances who had them.

If I was going anywhere that's not an easy access to a tow truck, I'd never take a Land/Range Rover.

I've driven the X5 on the off-road course at the Performance Center twice. While I understand it's a course designed for the X5 to successfully negotiate, what it can do there is impressive for a SUV/CUV/SAV. Unless this type of driving is an everyday occurrence for you, the X5's capabilities are sure to be enough. There are also some off road videos floating around the internet that aren't on purpose-built courses which is likewise impressive if you aren't doing that type of driving every day.

Interesting to me was that the X5's at the performance center did not seem to have the off-road package, yet they still traversed the off-road course with ease.

As best I can tell you're right. One did have air suspension though.

Odd both of the PDC xLines that I drove had Off-Road package - there's an additional toggle to the left of the air suspension toggle that switches between road modes.

I'd guess the factory could put whatever series of options they wanted onto a vehicle, so what they have there may not be something you could actually buy.
