Steering wheel buttons

My steering wheel buttons on the right side are not working.

X5 45e.

Anyone know if there is a place where they are enabled or disabled?

They worked fine and then just stopped working. I could have changed a setting but have no idea what it could be.

Thx!

And specifically, the left right buttons work, volume works, voice command works.

The control dial pushed or scrolling doesn’t work. Neither does the selector button immediately below the scroll roller dial or the phone icon to left.

Reboot iDrive (hold in the volume button for 30 seconds or so) and see if that clears things up.

I reset and that did not work.

Is there a way to change the driver display? Maybe I’m using the wrong one?

It appears the central display area is off and i can’t get it to turn on with the settings display area. Is there another place where it could be turned on/off?

You keep asking different things. Maybe concentrate on one problem or situation at a time. If your central information display does not come on at all then probably best to take it to your dealer. Of course that may not be your problem since you are talking about turning it on with the settings display area and I don't know what it is that you are referring to.

Maybe just let it sit overnight so it does a sleep reset and see how things are in the morning. If you are still having problems just try solving one at a time and go from there.

Is your phone connected? And is it connected in Idrive or CarPlay? This could be the issue with the control dial.

The display in front of you can be switched to quiet mode, so it shows less info.

The central display in the middel can be switched off. It should come back on again if you push the Idrive button.

If the screen was set to Apple carplay mode, and the phone wasn't within range, I'm not sure what the central display would show. Or, if say your significant other set it up with their phone as the primary, that might trigger the blank screen. I don't know if it goes back to the default iDrive screen if no carplay device is in range.

Ok the issue is that the connector i side the dash near steering wheel got slightly disconnected somehow. Once plugged in tightly all works fine!

That's what we need, feedback from the poster / updates regarding the outcome. I read a lot of threads that leave me wondering at the end if the fault was rectified or better still, what the cause was. So thanks SUV
