I'm very interested in this too. I have the aux heater in my current X5 but it doesn't appear to be available on the G05 (even though it is on the X3, both petrol and diesel). Failing aux heat I'd take remote start but I've seen no mention of it in the UK.

Interestingly in Autocar last week, talking about the new 3-Series a BMW product manager mentioned the ability to remote heat the car. That would be a new feature for the 3-Series in the UK but why not on the X5

I have asked the dealer a few times but his lack of response on this point suggests he doesn't know...might be worth checking with the online chat function?

I've given up with my dealer and emailed BMW directly. No response as of yet

It should if you have them set to auto heat up at a given temperature.

Maze ..I commend you for not going with remote start in Chicago.
It's a must for me.
I thought about it a lot and figured I'd get the most use in the summer with the A/C since it doesn't take that long to cool the car down a decent amount. In the winter, I think the car would need to be idling for a while to pump out heat. Plus, my car is in a heated garage for the winter. I've been a driver for 20 years in temperate climates and I've lived without remote start for this long so I figured I could go another 3 years.
Same, we don't have remote start on both our cars in Chicago and we've been able to live without it just fine.

The gas I save on remote start definitely get placed back in the environment with my foot, so it's a wash for the world lol

Is this something you can add post purchase? I wonder if it can be coded in.

I'm not sure what I am missing, but I do not have the ability to remote start via the Connected App, the FAQ's in the App specifically it is not allowed. Did anyone that has actually remote started via the App do something to enable or update this?

Dsan, there is a setting within iDrive in a location that is less than intuitive to find. Within the climate control menu, you need to enable remote starting. Enable there. Refresh Connect app. You should be good to go.

That is all done. Deleted and reinstalled the BMW Connected App. No changes to the App. Where is the remote start feature in the App? on the main screen with the lock/unlock/horn etc?

Forgive my ignorance here, as I was pretty annoyed that this feature was not available to me even though genius said it was. I never did verify prior to delivery.

On the landing page. It's cleverly named climatize timer. See below.

Just thinking... am I an idiot? Is this "send departure time" that will start vehicle? I was just watching a youtube video to confirm my settings, and saw again that the settings are hidden under climate control. Just popped into my head that that might be where start is "hidden"

Thank you for your help. That is really hidden in plain sight... or I'm just not that bright I guess.

So not clearly explained in any materials I've read previously is that when you successfully send the departure time to the X5, the car remotely starts immediately upon successful receipt of the remote command.

I initially thought that it would start at the period in time selected, this is not the case.

Does anyone know if you can have the seat heaters turn on with the remote start as well as the engine? I can’t find any setting for this....

Yes, you can remote start the car from an Apple Watch. I've done it several times and it works well.

How so? I see Climate Control Activate and Doors, but not Departure Climate Timer.

Pressing and holding on "Climate Control Activate" immediately starts the car remotely.

I had tried that but the submenu is horn and lights. How long does one press Climate Control Activate to do a remote start?
