the blue fins are elements purposely designed in the form of an "X". they don't affect lighting tone.

The LED lighting at night or do you mean the blue design element in 5AZ LED with Laserlight?

No the blue element doesn't light up and there's a white LED ambient element but it's not noticeable. You don't really see it unless you're up close or during the day.

Definitely useful if you are driving at autobahn speeds but it is a little unnecessary for US speed limits.

You have to consider some places in the USA where 80-90mph is fairly normal speed!

Having the anti-dazzle functionality working would add considerably to it, but that is available on the LED only headlamp with adaptative, but not the base lamps...the laser light version can see further, though.

IMHO, anything that lets you see more, and provides less eye strain is worth it.

Normal speed and legal speed are two different things.

Even if you drive at 90mph, you'll travel 60 meters per second and with its intended 600m distance, the laser will light up 10 seconds ahead of you at all times. However, at autobahn speeds (150-160mph) you travel 70 meters a second, which gives you only a little more than 8 seconds to cover the entire light distance.

When I say that it is pretty much useless, I am taking into consideration that the most highway speed limits are 65mph in most parts of the US and that means you light 21 seconds ahead of you. Just imagine, the object that is lit by the high beams takes 21 seconds to be next to you in comparison to 8 seconds. One is imminent danger the other one is not.

Besides, I do not think that anyone can make out in the dark what is the tiny dot at the horizon 600 meter ahead of them even if ones headlights shine on it.

I'd rather have the headlights work as they are intended with anti-dazzle high beams and full variable light distribution instead of the pinpoint long distance illumination. To each his own.

I was on a road in Texas where the speed limit was 80, and there's lots of places where it's 70-mph...people in TX were going considerably faster than the speed limits! Some places in like Montana have some pretty high speed limits. Most of the NE US, 65-mph is about tops, but around Boston, 75-80 isn't unusual for normal travel.

The further you can see something ahead, the more time you have to decide what's there and take evasive action if necessary. HID and the LED/laser color temperature is closer to daylight, and that helps, too versus older lamp types.

Was driving out on White Sands Missile Range years ago at night for a mission, and you had to watch out for oryx...you DON'T want to hit one of those! Lights really help. When they want to cross the road, they cross the road and can run quite fast in the process. Average 450# or so and will ruin your day if you hit one! A bunch of wild horses out there, too and an occasional deer.
