Alignment due in 15,000 miles
Was told by dealer that alignment will be due @15,000 miles and it's not a free serviced.
Is it something you guys got too? I thought all services within first 3 years are free, but seems I'm wrong : |

Wheel alignment is not covered under the BMW Ultimate Care maintenance program:

Does the manual call for an alignment at 15,000 miles? Usually you only get an alignment when the car needs one, like the tires are wearing unevenly or the car is pulling. I've never owned a car that required them at mileage intervals.

In my 4+ years and 68K miles experience owning a '14 X5, I had alignments done twice, when I replaced tires. There was no indication in driving the vehicle or tire wear that alignment was needed in between (indeed, there was no indication alignment was needed when new tires were installed, I did it mostly out of habit). I expect a similar experience with my G05...though it does have IAS so there is now an additional variable in the alignment, so I'll see. |

This doesn't sound right at all. Unless your tires are showing strange wear, you never get a alignment just because.

I got my 19 X5 in May and just recently got an email recommending thread check and wheel alignment. I have <5K miles. Quote for four wheel alignment is $90.

The only time I have gone for an alignment is when I replaced suspension parts or saw uneven tire wear in 40yrs of BMW ownership. To have a dealer suggest it just smells of a scam. eagle_bmw said his car had less than 5K miles when the dealer suggested it, this is preposterous and so is only charging $90 to do it, a proper all wheel alignment will cost more than that if done on its own for good reason, meaning proof that it needs done. For $90 on a <5K mi car, without the owner looking, could simply be a visual check If BMW or the dealer is suggesting it, let them pay for it. Alignments have never, that I have seen, been part of any scheduled maintenance program and never paid for by the dealer or manufacturer unless a warranty covered item gets replaced and as part of the reassembly, an alignment needs done to bring the car back to spec. |

This is very basic. There is either a suspension design problem to cause an alignment issue or you hit something and your wheels are out of alignment.
To recommend an alignment as a regular maintenance item is clearly fleecing the customer. Why not also recommend he rotate out his windshield wiper fluid?? This borders on the ridiculous. |

I religiously flush my windshield wiper fluid every 3 months or 3000 miles.
I agree with the comments above. It sounds like dealers are fleecing their customers. Alignment shouldn’t be necessary unless there is a problem. It’s not part of preventative maintenance. |

Alignment is recommended every 2 years. The only way you get it for free is if they are doing suspension work under warranty that requires alignment settings to be adjusted.
If they are recommending it as a preventative maintenance thing then it is customer pay. Mike |

True but not at <5K miles or 10K miles or 20K miles or 30K miles, etc. There are no 2019 X5's wearing suspension out yet.

My dealer has a Hunter Quick check system. They check alignments right in the service drive. I've not been charged the one time it was used on my previous car. And my alignment was fine, nothing needed.
OP, I'd ask dealer to show you the BMW service schedule recommending an alignment. Maybe air suspension equipped X cars? I'm not sure and wouldn't want to guess. But my hunch is they're over selling.

No need for alignment unless performing work on suspension, but then alignment is covered, your dealer is BS.
If you have RFT tires you will have uneven wear,no alignment will help you with that.
