2019 vs 2020
I'm looking at x5 2019 and 2020 x50 (not m). what's the difference on the 2020 new vs. the 2019s?
the msrp is similar but the dealership is offering better deals on the 19, although it's been sitting on the lot for 8 months. anything I should look for? |

The 2020’s have the sensatec stitched dashboard as standard now, vs the 19’s that have the plastic dash. Makes a big difference imho regarding the feel of the interior, especially given how much these things cost.

2019s xLine models, 40i and 50i, produced around Dec of 2018 started coming with SensaTec stitched dashboards as Standard. Only the M Sport models did not come equipped with it.

Nice, the G05 has significantly better sound isolation than the previous F15, and with acoustic glass - there's even more reduction.

You stated that SensaTec dash is standard for 2020 and 2019s has plastic dash. While half true, 2019 X5 40i and 50i xLine models also had them standard on late production models. 2019 M Sport models came standard with the soft touch dash. The OP inquiry was on a 2019 50i that's been on the lot for 8 months. Suggestive feedback for your future posts, be factually correct.

Second, other people read this post besides the OP, they might have some interest in a broader comparison of ‘19 vs ‘20. Lastly, I was not critiquing your post, just adding to the discussion. So if we’re providing constructive feedback I would suggest for future posts you pull the stick out of your butt and/or try not to be such a douche. Cheers! |

My commitment to the G05 forum and other Bimmerpost forums is to provide detailed, thorough and factually correct replies as I'm able to forum members that are based on continually staying up to date on G05 information which come from detailed BMW docs, tech docs, ordering guides, research, sites, extensive test drives, dealers but importantly other forum members. If you feel that's being a douche then I have no issues owning the label. Cheers and looking forward to reading updates on your M50i.

I picked up a 2019 50i m-sport
Absolutely love it, I plan to tune it. once tuned will have more hp and trq then the M at 30k less. So the M is nice but is it 30+K nice ? I dont think so |

I was going to buy a 2019 X5 50i but put it off because my wife and I were expecting our 2nd born and didnt want any distractions. Just put in an order for a M50i at only 5k more than what I negotiated for the 2019 50i.

one example is the post that said: "no mechanic changes". there is a big difference every 5 years, especially in the x5. so we wanted to make sure they didn't make a new version or big change between 18, 19 and 2020. also, I wanted to make sure it's worth saving. For us, $1000 doesn't make a difference if we get something more; however for $13,000 off a 94k sticker, that makes a difference. Also, I like to know how hard to push. I don't want to make a "low-ball" offer of $50k on a $90k car, when $70k might have been more appropriate. or when it would be easier to just pay 80k for a new one. sometimes dealership have more freedoms on a new order vs lot, sometimes more flexible on lot and sitting a while. the comment on lease and Money factor above, was a big help in our research to get started buying this 2019 x5 50i with M package. I think we are leaning towards making a good deal on 2019, but now we need to know how hard to push. from reading articles on here, I think 15-20% off MSRP should be a good price for a 2019 that's been sitting passed over for months and is fully loaded. |

One thing to consider is resale value, if that matters to you. Essentially you're buying a 2019 model in a 2020 model year which means when you go to sell 5 or so years from now there will be 2020s with the same miles as your 2019 which will decrease your resale value somewhat. |

that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Now the big question, do we Buy, Lease, or borrow. I'd lean towards leasing but I think my wife wants to buy. so resale might be an issue, but we'll see. My wife likes to hold cars for 10 years, although her current is a 2013 Lincoln. |
