M50d vs 45e
So thinking of biting the bullet on a 20 G05 and wanted to know which would be better, fully loading both so not bothered about what I will lose; more thinking what I would gain as they are both putting out 400bhp or there abouts.
What's everyone opinion on either. How's the drive in the 45 compared to the 50d? |

I haven't driven the 50d, though am a new 45e owner, but I think the are apples and pears really. Yes they both output similar HP, but the 50d at 560 lb ft and the 45e 440 lb ft of torque (when using both electric and petrol engines) so the shove is going to be very different and the weight of the 45e is probably much higher too.
So it all depends on what you want from your driving experience, but living in a City, I like the electric, emissions free driving near home and the effortlessness and good-enough=go when further afield. |

I've not driven the 45e, however as a 50D owner, I can tell you, you won't be disappointed

I did't drive 45e, but I do have 2500km on m50d. What would be my coment on the driving?
Well before car arrived I watched all of the reviews on line. One of the reporters said one thing that (I think) explains m50d in one sentence: The car this big, just shouldn't be this fast, but it is. |

Not that I could have that choice as in the US, but I would choose the M50d. Diesels and manual gear boxes, gotta enjoy them while you can. Plenty time in the future for things like the 45e.
If we had the X7 M50d, I would of traded in my X5 35d for one soon. Sadly in a BMW black hole as there is no option for 3rd row and a diesel or PHEV in the BMW world.

I’m now driving an F15 M50d and getting my G05 45e in a couple of months. M50d is a beast but since I’m mostly doing short trips, the 45e fits my needs more. Also taxes on diesels are pretty high and I don’t see that change any time soon with the climate going on in my country.

Same here. Going in circles between M50d and 45e, even X7 M50d for additional capacity. All fully loaded. Still cannot decide 😀

I almost did. But, I tested one and X7 is just too big for the roads in Europe - IMO.

- 3rd row - hybrid is supposed to be the best of both worlds, but in reality it has downsides of both ICE an EV - this could easily be the last time I'm buying ICE. So let's enjoy it in M (performance) 😀 |

The only reason why I got a 45e are fiscal reasons and living in green commie Europe. |
