Samsung S20 no compatible with Digital Key?

While trying to pair a new Samsung S20 as a digital key on my X5 I get a phone not compatible?

I have Tmobile and understood it would be fine with both TMobile and AT&T. Visits to dealer and BMW genius by phone have not helped. Anyone else experience this and found a solution?

It could be I may have to wait or perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

I use Galaxy S10 with my X5 without any problems. I'd ask the dealer for help.

However, I had the same message on the S9 and the dealer managed to fix it

If someone finds a solution please let me know. I did go to the dealer and called the BMW genius folks and both were not able to solve it.

The BMW genius guy said there were some compatibility issues with the S20. He expects it will be fixed but has not idea on when. The dealer opened a ticket. A delay in response is expected so I will check back with them later this week.

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has a Samsung S20 and had NOT experienced any problems with the digital key? I really like the feature when I'm going to work out, etc. so I don't have to carry the key too.

Hey, I have a S10+ as well. Dealer setup pin, ect at delivery . But I am getting error message when trying to activate via the app. Can you please tell me what your sequence was to get the digital key activated.

Curious if you (or anyone else with a new S20) has been able to get the digital key to work with the S20 series? I'm up for an upgrade swap of my S10+ next month and but would prefer to hold onto to it, if the S20 series won't work, as having the digital key available on the phone is so convenient.

Based on my challenges with the a key renewal late last year the best path to get support is to start a case with your local BMW service department, they will get the case escalated to the ConnectedDrive team. Just wondering if S20's work.

Hello, as an update the digital key is compatible with the S20. However, I have not managed to pair it with the car since, although it says status 'removed', I believe somewhere on the system it must still showed it as connected to my old device.

Still say '' if you installed digital key on a diff device please switch back to that device. In case you want to enable in new device please delete digital key inside vehicle. If you did not install on a diff device please do a factory reset''

I did no2 yesterday but no change yet.
By factory reset, I guess it would been the iDrive and not the phone??!!

I have had no luck yet. This is really frustrating since I used the digital key frequently.

If anyone had any luck please post how you did it.

I had a Samsung S9 and deleted it first in car but still cannot get S20 to work.

So, I had the dealer reset entries on their end, and now I get that Phone is not compatible (however, I also got that message initially on the S9 but it later resolved itself).

I was able to speak directly to the BMW genius, who like most of us are working remotely. He said the question about Samsung S20 working as a digital key came up that morning on their morning "catch up sessions" and the response was not yet. Their is a compatibility issue with no expected time of resolution. With COVID-19, I suspect it to be delayed even further. He suggested checking in again in about 3-4 months.

I had reached out to team that had helped with my 2019 Digital Key renewal issues and they confirm the same, no compatibility yet. Not driving much these days anyways, but will hang on to my S10+ versus losing access to the digital key service.

From the BMW ConnectedDrive Tech support team:
“I have learned that there are some issues with the S20 models which are under investigation at BMW and Samsung.
Additionally, there is also an issue within the app where it displays the compatibility screen multiple times. This issue is also under investigation.
There is not an ETA provided by BMW or Samsung regarding this so I we will just have to wait for the resolution. “

Considering that the S series is the only phone currently supported you would have expected BMW to have gotten an advance copy to make sure it works, but they failed once again. Great cars, crappy software engineering

Same issue here on the regular Samsung S20. ConnectedDrive app got an update in the last few days, and still no compatibility. Given that the S20 was introduced almost half a year ago, this is pretty disappointing.

Curious if anyone heard any further updates?
