45 e - 3 litre engine only mpg

There are quite a few posts regarding the electric only range which can be achieved by the 45e, but I was wondering if drivers might share what mpg they achieve in pure petrol engine driving when the battery is exhausted? Thinking of long distance motorway / highway driving in particular without any recharging.

Have taken several 400 mile round trips. Seem to be averaging around 28 mpg on the highway.

A UK gallon is bigger than a US one, so if I did the math right, that's about 33-mpg(UK). Highway seems to be rated about 10-liters/100Km or so on petrol alone. If you run the car in adaptive mode, it will be able to use some electrical power to boost acceleration for a long time.

Will adaptive mode run if we do not key in gps destination?

The manual says you need to have a destination set in so that it can make intelligent decisions on when to turn the engine on and when to utilize the electric motor. From what I've heard, when you do that, it tries to end up with the battery discharge about when you reach your destination to optimize your trip there. Haven't taken any trips, but have run the nav...it seems to help with overall efficiency.

After some 1000 + km road trips without charging can say generally for these trips for me I am around 10l / 100 km on fuel only.

These longer trips are highway. I usually drive on cruise controle 130-140 km/h depending on the local max speed.

Yes it will. Adaptive mode also adapts the car setting (damper, steering, ...) to your driving style and the road conditions. It should work better with navigation.

For electric driving: If a trip is selected in navigation it will optimize electric drive and try to have you arrive at destination with an empty battery. However this doesn't really work out in my almost all highway trips. In adaptive / hybrid it switches to ICE above 110 km/h. The trick is to switch to all electric once you see your electric ranges matches the distance to your destination.

It will always keep some battery for the electric push in accelerations in normal driving styles in hybrid or adaptive.

When switching to sport it will start charging the battery to accommodate to a more sporty driving style with more accelerations.

Is there anyplace in the displays that gives you the mpg or do you have to calculate it after deducting edrive miles on current tank?

On the board computer in the right in the speedometer.

You can select what it shows with the upper button on the left stick behind the wheel.

Or you can chose the driving statistic screen in the central screen. Here you can also chose what it shows: from factory, individual, last fuel, last charge, trip.

It will only show average electric when driving in all electric mode.

Sorry 45e I wasn't clear in my post, I meant mpg for ICE only...

No sorry. You can't. Only if you drive with an empty battery and you set the BC on since last fuel.

And I think the real time mpg will also be fuel only.

What you can do is, when on a longer trip and the range of the battery is nearly 0, reset individual on the BC and read your mpg before charging again.

Or what I did is looking at "since last charge" during a 2 week holiday 2000 km without charging. Bias was 50 km driven electric.

Or "since last fuel" when you have been driving on a trip with an empty battery (and the battery was empty before fueling)

On a 130 mile trip, highway only, with empty battery I got 19.1 mpg.
That is driving at 80-85mph, with 3 people and suitcases.

For the fellow Europeans. In metric that would be 12,3l/100km on a 210km trip at 130-140 km/h. :-)

FWIW, I have no clue why the US hasn't switched to metric like almost the entire rest of the world! Maybe that's the engineer in me. Too many old fogies in government, I think.
