K&N Drop-In Filter...
Does anyone on here know if K&N 33-3128 would fit X5 M50i? The angles at the very bottom look different. If these do not work any recommendation on which K&N will fit?

Yes. I have installed high flow intake filters on nearly every car I have owned or own. No different than Dinan or BMC air filters. There are few bench flow tests with results on here showing improved airflow however I simply would like a louder engine note at WOT and am not looking for any real WHP gains.

I have not but I would like to retain the OEM look however this may be a viable option down the road.
I did remove the charcoal emissions filters in the top half of the box and noticed there are two dummy flaps inside the lower half of the air box facing the firewall. I am sure they can be removed as well and it will improve the engine note but I believe it will suck in a great deal of hot air decreasing the output enough to be noticed. The filter you posted above may achieve the goal I am aiming for. Thanks for the lead and if I wind up purchasing I'll post details/review. Additional filter discussion here for anyone who is curious: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=26835977

I am fairly certain they are a match however I will test fit before I give official confirmation. I just need to find a vendor who can sell this to me since nobody has it or can get it.

Thanks - I've very interested in the before/after impressions. If you have a draggy, take some sample points from before and after.

There always has been a strong belief despite the difference in part numbers that the filters were the same. It can be something as simple as a denser filtrate causing less air flow. BMW is known for trying to separate the numbers of the M as much as possible, so it could be a purposeful choke point that they put it. The fact that BMC lists G05 is almost a confirmation of that point.

Exact same thing on the F15 vs. F85. Filters were identical shape but the media was different. M50i and X5M SHOULD share the same filter but I will confirm once I have one of these in my hand.
