'22 X5M vs '24 M60i

This probably has been beaten to death but curious if anyone would consider a '22 X5M with 36K over a brand new '24 M60i?

The X5M is a pre-LCI, older interior but still looks fantastic, the '24 M60i would be brand new, new LCI, new interior and detuned X5M engine essentially.

I'm terrified of a brand new X5M and the depreciation hit they take.

The M60i would be about $88K and the X5M would be about $70K.

In my opinion dollars do not come into play as the deciding factor between those two. They are very different vehicles as far as the driving experience they provide. If you want the sportiest possible then go for the X5M knowing that many feel the ride is too harsh for daily driving duties. If you want some sportiness, quickness but a ride that is more appropriate for all duties/conditions then the M60i may be the choice.

I would suggest driving both and see which one feels best for you. If it is the X5M then make sure you are comfortable buying used. If you are then go for it. If not then go for the M60i.

Then again, all these vehicles will suffer from depreciation so maybe don't let that shy you away from a new X5M.

I assume the M60 you are look at is base with no options or packages for 88k. I don’t have my sheet in front of me but I thought 93k was base so you basing that on a 5% discount?

$88K includes incentives and discounts prior to taxes.

It sounds like the M60i with X5M or Euro M60i seats is the winner here.

Go new, get the 2024 LCI M60i. Best daily driver I have ever owned along with the M50i that it replaced. The M60i is a noticeably upgraded vehicle especially the potent new S68 TT V8.

There is not a question in my mind, I would go X5M CPO every time without hesitation. It's just more. More power, more sporty, more sound.

I wouldn't even look at a base M60i, without executive and DAP, you're talking about a 90k vehicle missing features from $40k vehicles.

I'd probably not get a 36k mile X5M of my budget went up to 90k, if buy a lower mile one with all the features.

All this as the owner of a CPO M50i that someone else lost 40-50k on in 2 years, that was totally loaded in options, and was "fast enough" to keep me satisfied. I decided the X5M wasn't enough more to justify a price premium of 10-20k over the M50i.

A 2 year old M50i will have 40-50K dollar depreciation from new?

Was just going to say similar feedback on the x5m price. Look at ones around 90k. It seems to me you’re handicapping the CPO options with limiting the price relative to the m60.

OP might be getting a 95kish car with discounts to 88. So it could have some features but agreed, definitely not everything it should have for the price pt you’re willing to spend

Mine had an MSRP of right at $100k. The dealer I bought it from said at the time they sold it new, they had ADM in the $10-20k range for stuff like the M50i. I bought it for $60 something. Very unique timeframe because of the big mark ups, but even without the ADM they lost a TON of money over the 2 years.

My '21 M50i was a relatively low option unit that stickered for 84K.
I got 68K for it on trade for my '24 which was a very early delivery and some dealers were demanding 10 over at the time, got mine at sticker. They were all custom ordered then(April '23).
So in effect the selling prices on new deliveries which were order only on the M60i were higher but the trade in values were also incrementally higher.
My 30 months with my M50i cost me 16k.

The X5M is loaded with every single option.

At ok. So maybe you could get slightly newer or less miles if the price was apples to apples?

I see what you are saying. Yes. If I bring up and match the budget to say $90K, I could possibly find one with much lower miles.

This would be a good option, try to get the X5M loaded up with lower miles and closer to what the M60i would be in terms of price. Although it's worth test driving both to know which one you like better, as what a few others have already mentioned on this thread.
