Sensafin is a great product but realize it will take a while sitting in the sun for its plastic smell to diminish. With heated and ventilated seats, it matches leather for comfort.

My main problem with merino is the old stitching pattern. It looks a bit dated. Also minimal to no perforation on the back seat is another problem with merino. Saw sensafin at the dealer and was blown away how soft and leather feeling to touch it is. Ordered mine with Sensafin in cognac

Ditto on Sensafin being so much better in person. I preferred it vs the leather, just looks more luxurious and couldn’t beat the durability factor. A little concerned on the plastic smell people are mentioning, but I won’t be able to confirm/deny until the X6 arrives late June.

I'm a week into my 50e with Sensafin, having come from a 45e with Merino.
I don't know how to say this so I'll just come right out: I no longer have any panic attacks about choosing Sensafin over Merino, I can fully sleep through the night, and I am...gasp...always happy to drive my new 50e with Sensafin. I've even let a few others see my seats! There, I said it. The Sensafin is a marked improvement over the Vernasca that was in my 2020 40i. As for smell, my car smells like a new car...which is basically a plastic aromatherapy cocktail anyway. Until the Merino package gets more Merino, I'm very satisfied with the Sensafin option. |

+1 for team Sensafin, lol! I was worried the first two days about the plastic smell, but as others have said a couple days in the sun the smell goes away. Almost one month in, greeted by the new car smell each time I open the door. I did opt for the leather dashboard, which I wouldn’t opt for again btw, so that may also be contributing to my experience.

Ive now had 3 loaners with sensafin for about a week each and the vinyl smell never went away. Each vehicle had over 4k miles, so I doubt the smell just goes way. Also, the sensafin vinyl smell is different than the normal interior plastics, glue and upholstery smells. Again, not repulsive, just not what I prefer for various reasons. It also felt less compliant , but is something I could live with if forced to.

I am totally happy with the Sensafin seats, but I also checked them out in person first on a dealer car. I am curious as to how they'll hold up long term but I'd guess they'll be fine.
Another thing though.....Coming from the rather "smooth and slippery" Nappa leather seats in my 535, I do find the Sensafin rather "grippy" in terms of sliding butt in/out of the seats as well as travel bags/etc on the passenger/rear seats.
