For me it has to do with age. I am 46 now and started taking it at 38ish. It has definitely helped with muscle retention as I have gotten older. My biggest fear was LOSING MUSCLE!!! That is one of the main things it prevents. It also aids in protein synthesis and muscle building. I won’t get into all the scientific mumbo jumbo, but with out a doubt it has helped me retain and build muscle well into my forties.

When most all guys my age are dealing with low T and resorting to TRT, I have not. And I haven’t had much of a drop off in anything ie...strength stamina energy sex drive etc. As you know DP from some of our other post convo I train pretty damn hard. HMB has definitely worked for me! Key ingredient to my rest repair and recovery! Hope that helped.

Anybody ever try the Orgain Organics Protein and Super foods powder from Costco? Just bought some tonight and boy is it different. Not in a bad way just different. Has a spice and fruit flavor to it. Was hard to get it to blend down.

Good to hear! One note when choosing HMB, it’s worth paying a little extra for the higher dosage pills. You won’t have to take as many or as often as the low dose ones. Usually just before and after training, or on off days at night before bed. I refuse to revolve my day around taking 8-10 pills!!!

No not 8 lbs in a week but that can be done in a day if you eat like crazy and don't shit. I've been eating unrestricted since Jan 1. Just calorie surplus and lot of gym. I've been at this for 30 years just been a while since trained this intensively. Mostly my gut is growing

The best way to describe HMB is it prevents muscle catabolism which is essentially your body wanting to break down amino acids(muscle) for fuel during intense exercise or extreme dieting. Essentially it's a shield and the anabolic effect is a result of less muscle waste.

It became essentially "perverted" by the cross fit culture in an effort to ward off a toxic overuse muscle breakdown known as "rhabdo" which is a stupid badge of honor on whether your "hardcore" or not. This is when your muscle is beat on so much in a short period of time you secrete a toxic form of creatine you cannot process in the kidneys and require dialysis or you die.

HMB is most effective when paired with creatine, Arginine or Agmatine, and dosed accordingly with sufficient amino acids(building blocks of muscle).

In case anyone has any questions regarding supplements, use, dosing, and what does what don't hesitate to ask Me.

I have 6 different training certifications, personally lost 140lbs in 6 month naturally when I was 15(335lbs down to 195), have logged over 20,000 hrs working with clients, and am apart of starting our amazing supplement company.

They absolutely work especially during training! You can find them online for very reasonable price. I’ve been using it for at least 10yrs!

I dunno man, I haven’t found that I heal any faster,...I get that it’s like insurance. I used it for like 6 months and really didn’t notice much. Creatine and protein 100% notice the difference.

Were you taking it intra-workout? It does wonders for me as I train. Keeps my strength and intensity levels up from start to finish. And you don’t have to cycle it like Creatine. So no down time, which is huge!

Try MuscleTech Amino Build Next Gen or Cellucor Alpha Amino. Both worked great for me. Not expensive either, on Ebay or Amazon.

Anyone that tries to sell you on BCAAs for recovery and energy is just marketing.

BCAAs are just the major Aminos you CAN'T get in normal dietary structures. They're only found in whole proteins such as Meat, fish, dairy, poultry.... vegetarians and vegans are incredibly deficient and must supplement.

Imagine BCAAs are protein without the calories.

Recovery based products are creatine(5-10 grams), buffered creatine(kre-akalyn) (1 gram is the same as taking 10grams of Creatine without the negative effects of creatine) and glutamine (10-20 grams in order for it to be an effective dose).

BCAAs should be dosed pre/intra/post and throughout the day if on a calorie suppressed diet.

There's absolutely ZERO REASON to cycle creatine off and on!
