First of all, this new X5 looks just fine overall. In typical X5 fashion is looks handsome and sporty. Not bland like the Q7 nor plain awkward/ugly like the GLE.

Secondly, the Cayenne has always been smaller than the X5 and that will continue with the newest iterations of each. The Porsche is quite cramped inside.

Third, the X5 is way more competitively priced.

RR Velar has looks going for it and that's all. The driving dynamics and interior material quality trail BMW. It's the same story for the RR Sport.

Cant wait! I hope the plugin is out by August next year so I can replace my current 40e with one of these beauties.

If you want a good driving SUV, then buy a smaller SUV or go with the X5M, which I think is the best in the business.
Have you driven a Cayenne with those options? From sampling vehicles with and without these options (on the current Cayenne anyway) I can assure you that they make quite a bit of difference in how the vehicle drives/handles. Just like the Dynamic Handling Package on my 2016 X5 makes a dramatic difference in how it drives compared to a base suspension X5 (or even just the adaptive dampers option). Yes, you are still in an SUV, but you'd be amazed at how hard you can drive them with these options. Just like the X5M.

Range Rovers crush BMW in terms of interior material quality. Sorry. Driving dynamics goes to BMW without question, but the interior fit and finish sure doesn't.

Same here! Hoping it doesn’t take quite that long (G30 hybrid info was released December of the same year and launched in March), but definitely am eagerly awaiting more info on the hybrid/US diesel models.

That bottom center grille opening looks 2" too short.. could be wider.

What you are saying is you like the looks of the Cayenne and that's cool. We don't have to admit anything. Beauty has always been in the eye of the beholder. To me and me alone I suppose, the Cayenne looks like a whale shark filter feeding. I like the looks of the X5 way better. From a looks perspective, I'd take any of the last 3 BMW X5 models over the 2019 Cayenne.

First, thanks for posting the pics. Appreciate seeing it on the road.

Sadly the redesign doesn’t do much for me over the F15. I really hoped BMW would kick it up a notch. Front is...well...odd. Need to see it in person.

But in this case....the X5M will be a better car at the same price

45e obviously indicates a bigger battery pack. I wonder what's the new size?

Umm everyone on here know that the Porsche Cayenne is now on a None rear wheel drive platform as before. It's know based on a front/AWD "Based" system. Which is a way of cutting corners. There's a reason why Bentley when with a RWD based platform AWD for the New Continental GT generation. Imagine the back lash BMW would get if it did that.

I remember seeing screen grabs of a foreign magazine article (think it was Auto Week) a while back saying the new hybrid would have 100km(~62 miles) range, which seems like either really efficient new batteries or a lot more of them if accurate. Even if real world values are lower, it would be right about what I need for my daily drive. However, that same article says the hybrid hp would only be around 308, while others have said it will be 393hp like the upcoming 745e, so it’s hard to know which is right as of now.

Now, if palbay could get some instrument cluster spy shots of the 45e...

Any rumors on whether 45e will have 3rd row?

As a hard core bummer fan, I tried to convince myself to get a x5 instead of ranger over sport 4 years ago. I couldn't. With less than 5 grand over the x5 , Range Rover sport was simply miles ahead in terms of design and luxury( although the electronics and informatics are just simply ancient) .
Now the history is going to repeat again. My range over is 4 years old and I'm in the market for a plug-in hybrid suv and have a hard task of choosing between x5 and new ranger rover sport hybrid.
Checking Land Rover USA website, I found the decision is not that hard after all: the new design, significant improvements in electronics, choices of colors and options put Range Rover sport ahead of the game again.

And I'm a hardcore Bmw fan!

And not in that terrible white color.

Is there something on the headlights? If not, I'm not a fan of the bottom half only daytime running lights. Looks very odd.
Looks like they are about to turn off. Weird and seems new just to be new. Not really a presence in the mirror when you fly up like the current ones arr

Yes, because they needed to make the base full LED headlights different and less appealing than the upgraded matrix full LED with iconic hexagonal dual corona rings, while still retaining a hint that it's a BMW. They still look much better and more BMW than the base headlights on some current models (e.g. 3er) where there is not even a hint of corona rings but simply two pairs of small flat rectangles.

Looks like a tank to me. Waaay too big for my tastes. I'm sure it's nice though in typical BMW design.

It didn't mention anything about it unfortunately, but if I had to guess based on how the 40e was, it probably won't have the option due to the battery packs taking up space.

Range Rover Sport's doors are all hard plastic on the lower half, even in high end models (my friend has the V8 HSE loaded to $110K).

Their interiors are great overall but BMW sweats the details more. This new X5 is pretty impressive from inside.
