So I don't always read so good...is red leather going to be a basic option now or soon? Could I get that red in extended merino at the $1k upgrade for example or is it a custom/individual order? I just placed an order all black and took that as the "lesser of evils". I'd contemplate cancelling my order and waiting a bit for red leather

Most likely X6s, just like how tacora red/black is exclusive to X4.

X5 will eventually get Amarone red/black interior next year.

Can orders in the production queue still be modified, or do you have to cancel and re-order?

I basically ordered everything on this update (M-sport, active steering, dual air suspension, alcantara headliner) with the luxury seating option, but I'd rather have matching sport seats. Those look great!

That does make sense!

If it packaged, they may actually be cheaper than the combination of the premium package and all the items separately. It infuriates me tha M-sport brakes are an "add-on" to the M-sport package.

For what it's worth, guys, I checked out these seats in person and posted lots of pics and information in the companion thread in the X7 forum here:

M Multi-Function seating and 40i DHP option, acording to the press release - December production. Also the press release is from BMW Press International and US availability may be December or in early 2020.

Lane Change Assistance has been rolling out with Sep builds including full merino, interior trims and alcantara headliners. New paint options, TZ2 and Ametrin, have been showing up on dealer lots more frequently.

From your experience how far in advance do they open the order forms? My X5 has been in the production queue for a week and I don't expect delivery until mid-November. I like the idea of the Multifunction seats but would rather not enter a limbo state especially if it means I won't take delivery until Feb/March.

December production, you’d get you car in December or very early January; these are built here...

Maybe I'm not asking this question correctly: At what point will this become an option to build (i.e. listed on the BMWUSA website) so I could tell a dealer to order them? I'd be surprised if a December order was received even by the end of January. I really like the look of these seats much more than the luxury seating option, but my wife may not be willing to wait that long .

If anyone has insight into how much these will cost, please chime in as well. I went back to BMWUSA and added up the current seats I have ($1000 Merino + $750 Comfort Seating + Luxury Seating Package $1,600 = $3350 total) not to mention heated/cooled seats and armrests. I have to think these seats would be either combined in a package, or less than $4000 upgrade a la cart.

The dealer will have the ability to order these options well before the BMWUSA build configurator is updated.

I would expect the dealers to get the updated build sheets within the next few weeks or shortly before they get December allocation.

I would think there is a good chance December orders will be received by the end of January depending of course where you live. Last year I ordered mine the second week of December and took deliver the third week of January.

As far as your pricing goes, the Luxury seating includes Multi-Contour so you don't need to pay the $750 for them.

Do you really think a Dec order date is feasible for the US. I wondered if these seats would be a European release only in Dec.

I wonder if these seats will eventually make it to the M550i as well. If they do it would bridge the gap even more with the M5.

Give me some Red M seats in the M550i and it makes it a lot easier decision on my next car (usually like colorful exteriors, but I will settle with a black/white/silver exterior if I can get red seats), right now M550i exterior/interior colors are all so boring.

Thanks Pictor and TurtleBoy. That definitely helps. I'll see what the dealer says and how flexible they are.
