50e entered production due today - config issue..

Yes, highly, highly unlikely you would need brakes in the first three years. We may have had a few that did but they are definitely outliers.

If you don't need it right away then you may just want to reorder.

Production begins means that all of the required parts have been ordered and the specific slot in the actual production line has been assigned...it does not directly mean that things like the body is being built...that happens very close to actual assembly.

BMW uses JIT production logic...all of the ordered parts and assemblies arrive at the factory to meet up on the assembly line pretty much as they will be installed...there's very little storage room in the factory for random parts...they come in, they get installed. IT's pretty interesting to watch if you can get a tour.

You could ask your SA if he's willing to provide a BMW store gift card instead of the care package. I had a similar issue and my SA said pick some stuff from the store and he'll order them. End up getting the trunk mat, windshield sun shade, touch up paint and leather cleaning solution.

We settled on a $1,100 discount in exchange for the brake issue. I thought it was very fair. PCD delivery this Friday!
