MHD tune

Is anyone running the MHD tune. I am looking to run stage two with the downpipe however I am confused on the removal of the gas particulate filter. Can anyone elaborate on this?
The idea is the DME unlock will not be a problem as I got a serious gear head in my city that has a pinning machine for DME unlocks.
Downpipe and tune will be ordered through him however the particulate filter to me sounds like I’m going to be essentially straight piping it lol?

I was also told to gap the spark plugs.

Lastly, are the numbers MHD posting accurate I want to get as much power out of it but also don’t want to start getting into turbos and meth injections. If anyone has any other tunes pushing more or any ideas for the mild hybrid help a brutha out!

Hello! I take it your x5 a 40e?

I will likely be running stage 2 on MHD at some point in the near future - my g05 is a 2019 40i - downpipe will be on the way shortly...!

Based on my experience in the past with MHD (which was awesome), I didn't switch the sparkplugs, as at that time for the n55 engine, you didn't really NEED to do that unless you were upgrading the turbo. That car ran perfect without upgraded sparkplugs. MHD's numbers are somewhat accurate but there's a variation given different quality of gas used etc. No, removing the particulate filter will not be essentially straight piping it as you will still have the muffler (and possibly still the resonator - but you can confirm about that).

PS. Where are you located in Canada?

I got a 40i too! I would have rather had the actually gas version rather than they mild hybrid.
Interesting, for the downpipe what are you going with?
I have to replace the spark plugs regardless but gapping them was an interesting suggestion.. regardless more than likely I’ll have it on and ready to go within a month or so. I’ll post back. I’m in Winnipeg.

D10 Ok, so you don't have the mild hybrid then - sorry, I was confused by your initial post in this thread. Going back to the "gas particulate filter" comment - the guy who is going to work on your x5 is likely referring to going catless - there are high-flow options as well though - confirm with him what he means. I will start a thread on my downpipe, install and review with before/after videos when I receive it - it'll be a high-flow downpipe as I don't want catless due to smell.

I do have the mild hybrid. I think I might go catless. I went catless on a golf r and I can barely notice any scent eveyone refers to. But I look forward to seeing those videos.

I had jz sent my DME over to FEMTO.
Should get it back next weekend.
It will be a stage 2 for me and will go onto the rollers to see if the claimed figures are near.

Gotten the DME back and loaded MHD Super License on my 40i.
Mods I have:
1. Arrma intake.
2. FTP chargepipes.
3. 200cell DP.
4. MP exhaust.

Totally enjoyed the burbles and start-up roar.
Car felt much "lighter" on daily drives.

One of the o2 sensors were fouled up and running on 1 gives 312whp on stage 1 on the saddest mainline dyno in SEA.
Will do another run when the o2 sensor is replaced this week.
IATs were high at ard 45-50deg C on stage 2 map and power tapers off after a few pulls on the dyno.

Coded off the cold-start to not annoy the cats too much in the mornings.
Start-up roar is a nice feature to jumpstart unknowing chicks walking by.

exhaust upgrade

I have a sdrive 2024 with m sport package, just wondering if there are any exhaust upgrading options available for this model since it's still pretty new.
+something that wouldn't void the warranty.

Probably would be best for you to start your own thread.

Yeah that locked DME is a PIA. I want a tune that can be plugged into the OBD port and go like it is on a Porsche. Probably just go with a JB4 until flash tuning is greatly simplified. Our '22 Macan GTS was a breeze with a Cobb Accessport.

I had a JB4 before the MHD.
The difference is the last rock from the sun i would say.
Huge!
Go for it.
I bought a spare DME and sent that to FEMTO.
The B58 needs a high flow downpipe to breathe and make power.

Kinda thought so. Usually a big difference between a piggy and a full ECM flash.

True , after full DME flash you feel the real difference.
