I honestly am not sure, and could be describing it wrong. The noise plays immediately when you press the start/stop button, before any warning messages appear. I have the initial warning notification coded off.

I did see that option you're talking about in your OP, but ignored coding it as I thought it was the noise I tried describing. Will have to check it out to see what it is now.

I'm confused. My 22 45e makes a chime sound when it turns on and when it turns off. Nothing has changed about that since I bought the vehicle

maybe it released with MY2022+. mine is MY21 and didn’t play a sound when starting or stopping. I pay close attention to BimmerCode by looking at each and every line item. I previously coded last June when I updated to 03/2023 and updated BC software at that time. then my dealership updated my vehicle to 11/2023 a couple weeks ago, so before I coded this morning, I updated BC software again and caught eye of this added feature. I also keep a document of my coding for reference.

a video will help. here’s mine:

My MY2023 also be default makes a rising tone on start and a descending tone on stop.

Any other interesting new things in BimmerCode lately?

so the start/stop sounds must’ve been added starting with MY2022 then. I had to wait three years to get it lol

no other new feature(s) that I could see since updating BC software last June. some items’ names were changed slightly

Yup, that's exactly how mine does as well, but the noise is more sci-fi, but I did see you posted you used the Alternative noise when you coded it.

Crazy to think this wasn't enabled for you from the start, and that prior to your coding when you would turn on your 45e it was just quiet (if you didn't have your seatbelt already buckled). No noise nothing, just dead air.

All it takes is to look at the driver's display and it would show you're in park, implying it is ready to do its normal things. The fewer beeps and bongs, IMHO, the better...save them for something more critical...it always seems to start when I press the Start/Stop button. It can confuse those with no EV or PHEV experience, though, as they expect to notice the engine running...with the PHEVs, unless your default is maybe sport mode, it's quiet when 'starting'.

nah that doesn’t work. as you can see in my video, “P” shows whether i start or stop the vehicle. still, when first taking delivery, I wasn’t familiar with what was showing, and the silent vehicle ‘start’ sure didn’t help me

I don't have a bimmercode device and am not interested in getting one, but I suppose you're correct -- that the sound was standard equip on 22s
