2024 X5 50e (Remote Parking)

Just tried this feature on my 50e and can't believe how smoothly it works!

I also noticed that the car adjust the tires as needed when move around. This is manual and not using the recorded park feature.

Anyone else use this feature yet. How does this compare to the i7.

If you have the package - it should be in your MyBMW app. See this in action on the i7.

I wonder if it allows the car to carry on moving even when there is a close obstruction detected by the parking sensors. Here in the UK spaces are so small often when I’m parking the side and rear sensors are red with constant tone for most of the manoeuvres into spaces! Remote parking would be great but not if it shuts out as soon as the car gets really close to a wall or pillar etc, that would make it useless for lots of my regular spots!

That i7 video makes me chuckle, I can’t imagine trying to do all that in a busy carpark here, you’d be attracting a lot of unwelcome attention (and abuse) from people queuing to get past.

Nice and serene the way they have it depicted, real life would be nothing like that unless it’s 3am

The auto park feature, also exist in pre LCI, I found it very good. I use it whenever it is available now. For tight space, it gets the car in equally well for better than average human drivers.

For the remote, I can definitely see this is useful. X5 is a wide car. too often, there are cars parked next to mine. And a few times, they are close enough, I cannot open 2nd row door wide enough to get an infant car seat into the car. By close enough, I can definitely get in driver seat easily, but for infant car seat to get in, basically door needs to open to max width. For this occurance, I have to put my daughter in her infant seat in trunk, drive the car out side of the parking spot, then put my daughter/infant seat into proper spot.

Does this mean this is available on my 2022 X5 45e?

Assuming you have the Parking Assistance package, yes but he is not referring to the remote parking but rather the Parking Assistant.

Ah - thanks. That makes more sense. I do have the Parking Assistance package, but the remote parking is the part that seemed potentially useful to me. Every now and then some bozo will park right up against my door, so being able to pull the car out remotely would be great in those instances.

I assume the remote parking is LCI only?

I assume that you have tested the remote parking to get your car OUT of a narrow space? I have the Driving Assistant Professional (5AU) package and have been told by my dealer that this will remote my car INTO a narrow space but I need another option code (can't remember what it was), to be able to remote the car OUT of a narrow space.

When I asked how I am supposed to get into the car to get it out of said narrow space there was no answer - just tumbleweed...

Does anyone know what that additional code is? Can’t think of anything I didn’t select in my 50e that would enable that.

AFAIK there is no additional option available to add (I'm pretty fully loaded as well), which I one of the reasons I raised an eyebrow when told I hadn't selected the option. I'd really like to know the option code so that I can confront my dealer

The Driving Assistance Pro package does not assist with parking. I don't know the package code, but it's the "Parking Assistance Package" that includes these three sub-packages:
1. Active Park Distance Control
2. Parking Assistant Professional
3. Surround View w/ 3D View

I'm pretty sure remote parking is part of the Parking Assistant Professional sub-package. My car has this feature, but I need to enable "digital key plus" on my phone before it will let me use it.

I have the Parking Assistant Pro (5DW) that enables me to start a parking procedure and then continue it from outside the car.

That’s crazy, I didn’t know you could equip the parking assistance in different layers of functionality. Do you have the 360 cameras (Surround View w/ 3D View) maybe that is part of the functionality of the feature you are missing. Best of luck to you.

As others have said, you need parking assistance package (which includes parking assistance professional). You also need to have an active key on the phone you’re trying to park with. I think the remote parking only works in LCI with digital key plus, you have to be very close to the vehicle (~8 feet) for it work.

I use remote parking feature all the time now to park and get out of parking space. The way I do it is - I’ve recorded paths to get in and out of the space. I simply need to walk up to the car, open the remote parking on the app and click the “recorded path”. It’s just the opposite on the way in.

As someone asked - yes, it will detect obstacles and not move further; it won’t run into obstacles. That being said, my parking spot is pretty tight on one side but the car still parks fine on a recorded path even with one side sensors going red.

The plot thickens... I have a Samsung S22 which, I believe, doesn't have the hardware/software to run the Digital Key Plus (have had a half-hearted attempt at installing it). Is the ability to remote the car OUT of a space dependant on the digital key and therefore the model of mobile/cell phone?

Must admit I've not tried the Recorded path setup yet (too scared!)

Yes, you NEED the digital key plus setup on the phone you’ll use for ANY remote parking capability. You could still sit in the car and have it follow pre-recorded paths or use backup assist.

I have a pixel 6 pro android phone too, I’ll try to setup DK+ on it and see if the remote parking works. I’ll report back.
