This kit is really about enhancing the cabin than a sound upgrade. The only speakers that you really need to replace for the ambient effect are the mid range. You could keep your full HK system if you wish but the mid range on the lower door panels won’t reflect the ambient lighting because the speaker cover is black rather than silver.

PNWM50I do you know if the subs and other speakers looked to be an upgrade over the HK?

I understand, hard to say without installing, but curious on your impressions from a visual. You mentioned the tweeters definitely weren’t b&w - but curious if they too, would be better than the HK.

I installed the speaker covers only. I had the HIFI system and updated the speakers and amp to bimmertech. I did not update my subs. The bimmertech amp can me tuned and if you like heavy bass like I do, a tune will do the trick.

I did replace the door speakers and I can tell a difference over Harmon Kardon. Those were the only legit speakers that came with the set. I ended up buying BW tweets but the male/female plug harness don’t match. Wasn’t happy to discover this $200 later. I could try splicing wires but I’m not sure if that’ll do the trick. For now I am using the no name brand tweets and they’re not great.

PNWM50I Thanks! Why not just leave the HK tweeters? And then to confirm, you didn't receive the BW subs with the set? And don't have an opinion on whether they're better than the HK subs?
