Nah, it's silly to think that a driver doesn't progress when they're still so young. He was 20 years old the last time he raced with Ric. A driver will definitely peak/plateau at some point, and he might be approaching the plateau at the age of 25, but he definitely didn't peak when he was 20... Ham, yeah, he has hit the peak/plateau and is on the slow downslope. Still a good driver, no doubt.

Not sure what country a fan is from has anything to do with the situation... plenty of US based Verstappen fans. Do you only cheer for Sargent and Haas?

I'd love for you to be right that Max is an average driver and that other teams could catch them with a better car, but I just don't think that's the case. I think Max has an intuition about driving that's not matched by many. You know, those high IQ no clue type people, but this is focused more on a physical ability to be in touch with a car. All these drivers have it, but I think Max has it to a different level.

'Bad' is still in the eye of the beholder: Hammy had already 7 races this year that were equally bad or even worse...

Based on him competeting for the WDC 2 years ago with an inferior car?
Or him taking the role of test driver for him team last season?

If Max improved, why didn't it show up until his car was vastly superior to everyone else?

I don't care about him anymore than I care about the EU as a whole and it's barely relevant countries. Max is the only thing they have to claim some kind of relevance, so it's not a surprise how much they look to him as 'god'

Which is why he was winning so much before he got the fastest car on the grid?

His skill has been developing... 2021 he was fighting hard. The RB18 in 2022 was fast, but he still had to fight. The RB19 is again fast, and he's no longer fighting... I think the car is damn fast, but I don't think that's all that's contributing to Max's success, and that's where our opinions differ. He was in a car that was poorly set up for the track last weekend and after the safety car he was reeling in the top drivers at a pretty quick pace, I think it was close to 2 seconds a lap.

his skill developed him to be a loser until his car in 2021 was literally the fastest car on the grid, and he almost lost until he was gifted the WDC. In 2022 his car was head and shoulders above everyone else - so much so that even his barely average teammate was putting the rest of the field to shame. Same thing this season - more of the same - and the same talking heads who said Hamilton was all car - are strangely quiet on Max's car carrying his barely above average driving to 1st place.

And Hamilton is so 'washed' and on the decline he's regularly destroying the Verstappen level Russell with ease.

Singapore once again provide its 80 to 90 percent the car and 10 to 20 percent the driver.

Schumacher was winning at Benetton then went to Ferrari and took years before he was winning again.

Vettel won 4 championships then came the hybrid era. Did he lose his ability to drive, no the Red Bull car were not the best anymore.

Alonso won 2 championships for Renault, then left and hasn’t been competitive again until this year.

All of these guys are excellent drivers but they have to have the car and team to win.

The betting is in and Max comes in at 1.28 Favourite, that is you get 1.28 in winnings for every dollar you bet, if Max wins.
Next up is Checo at 12.0.

Pretty much every F1 driver the last 2 decades is overrated, just leave it at that LOL. I love the Jackie Stewart quote when he said Hamilton makes more mistakes in a weekend then he has his entire career. Same goes with golf, the number of pro's I see on the limited amount i watch on TV hitting it into the woods or onto the next hole, OMG your a professional.

I really like Suzuka, season is a success with Ferrari Monza Pole & 1 Win!!! Surely the Ferrari strategy geniuses will screw up an other chances, Sainz just keep making your own calls LOL. Loving the McLarens being competitive with the younger non-mega stars, kids & I starting the giant McLaren F1 lego car soon. Hopefully teams do more pit stops than planned like Merc using that strategy and almost succeeding last week. Really wish they would bring back refueling so you run full bore all race, managing tire wear is not a race in my book.

AmuroRay, you're free to express your points of view, to root for whoever you like and to criticize whoever you like, but you're gonna refrain from politicizing discussions.

Hence, keep your condescending / inciting comments on nationality for other venues than Bimmerpost.

Do not misbehave like Helmut Marko recently did:

Williams' Vowles has said the track suits an efficient aero package and with high tyre deg no prizes for guessing it's Max who signs off FP2 on top as Chas hangs on in second.

I don't get it. To me it seems that Hamilton fans (here at least, but I also see it on other platforms) can only cheer for Hamilton by means of snarling at Verstappen.
Apparently they just can't be happy for someone else.

Maybe they take their example from Toto Wolff? He's pretty much the only team CEO that feels he has to say something negative when RB or Max achieves something.
All other team principles are happy for a team or driver if he/it achieves someting special (or just don't say anything), but there's always a reaction from team MERC when it concearns RB.

In every season Max has been in F1, he has won at least 1 race in every season.

Lewis has not won a race since 2021.

How does a 7 time world champion not win a single race for 2 years? Almost three?

That proved that during his time winning titles, it's always the car as Mercedes had a head start during the hybrid era.

Max has won a race with vastly worst and unreliable cars until 2021 where the RB was even until mid season and Mercedes out developed them again.

Max being "gifted" the win in Abu Dhabi was direct karma from the Silverstone crash.

Hes also won 10 races in a row, 15 in a row for RB and even with the vastly superior machinery that Mercedes has made, they couldn't even win that many
