New X5 w/20" 740M wheels - Anyone swapped out the Rears for 10.5 rims?
I have a brand new 2021 with 20" rims with the M sport package. When I ordered I didn't realize these were not staggered like my 2013 X5 with the M package. The dealer after the fact is telling me to order 21" which is not my intent. Anyone ordered these 20" Style 740M Star Spoke Light Alloy Wheel, Orbit Grey - 10.5Jx20 Part Number 36-11-8-071-997?
On a side note the 2021 flared fender for the M package look like an after thought compared to my 2013. Thanks. |

I believe overseas markets get the 740M rims in staggered sizes (vs. square set-up in the U.S.). You can order the wider rear rims from your dealer or find used ones on eBay. I’m toying with staggering my 740Ms (vs. upsizing to 22”) when it’s time to replace the OEM RFTs a year from now. (I run dedicated winter tires 6 months/year, so one pair of 9” rims would remain in use year-round, while the other pair take sprints/summers off.)

What is the difference in handling characteristics
Coming from a car with staggered wheels - wonder what the X5 45e handles like with slightly wider rears. Thanks for all replies.

Compared to XC90 T8 / RX 450h it drives really well. If you are looking for something that drives like a 540i g30 you will be less satisfied. With my rather relaxed driving style I did t really feel a difference between 19 inch non staggered winter tires and 20 inch staggered summer tires. Both are comfortable and I don't have any issues with the handeling. I drive electric for my commute most of the time and in adaptive mode on the highway for longer family trips. So I never test the limits of the car anyway. Probably other members have different expectations, driving styles and opinions |

Coming from a 2013 X5 with the M sport package with staggered wheels there are a few things I really don't care for in my 2021 X5 with the M sport package.
• Non-stagged 20” wheels • Steering is to light even in Sport mode • More body role in Comfort & Sport mode than my old X5 • 2021 M sport fender arches look weak compared to the old X5 • No Soft Close doors |

I bought a winter set of the non staggered 740's and later purchased the 10.5" rears. They've got the Michelin Alpin 5 winter tires on them. |
