3000 Mile Road Trip in F95 X5M Done!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Well the wife and I decided to visit family back in Iowa over the 4th weekend so we took a few extra days and drove from AZ to IA and back. I've done the trip a handful of times before so it was more about just getting there than sight seeing on the way.

Overall very pleased with the X5MC in every aspect of the trip. Shockingly I was avg 20mpg with cruise at 85 - 90 most of the journey. Overall each leg of the trip is about 1500 miles (see pic below of return trip).

Comfort: We had zero issues or negative things to say about the overall comfort of the trip. Seats are amazing and the massage feature kind of wakes the body up during those long runs. On the way up we stayed just past the half way mark and woke up in no rush to finish the trip so it was easy going. On the way back I drove 18 hrs. straight home and have nothing to complain about.

Handling/Performance: Exceptional in this department. Nothing but on demand power when needed and a wonderful experience with such a well planted SUV.

DAPP: Used this pretty much the entire trip both there and back. I have a hard time trusting auto driving features but decided to toughly test this one out. I will say I enjoyed it immensely. You still have to pay attention but it keeps your arms and hands comfortable resting not holding the wheel. The speed control is amazing and works very well kept me from feeling impatient and wanting to hurry around others. Overall only things I felt worried about was construction zones and when we hit rain then I took over.

Put in a picture of a hawk I saw hiding in a tree along the way. (I think its a hawk)

Nice write up! I cringed when I saw all those dead bugs on your front bumper. Looks like you need to set aside an entire day to clean that beast!

Nice! I love that you actually put the beast on the road for a real trip, I have yet to take an extended trip in mine, my teens always want to tag along so we always take my wife's suv since it's bigger and she doesn't mind them snacking in the rear since I am the one that cleans it. Lol! Hopefully I will get to drive it to SC for the BMW track experience. I like the stance on your beast also, well done.

Thank you, hardest thing for us was no food during the trip in the beast. lol However I did find it super nice to pull off and drop lower tailgate both of us sit and eat there. Had many stop by and say nice things or ask questions. You need to make an excuse to leave the kids behind and roll.. HAHAHA

I've seen an identical X5m in downtown Chicago last week. They are true beasts
