As others have noted, brake squeal is less than the previous model but still annoying. And hard use of the brake will cure the problem temporarily. I dodged two bull elk crossing a four-lane highway last week and had to panic brake to with ten feet to spare. Brakes were silent for several days -- until the limo stops started up the noise again. Good to know these brakes can handle a major stop, but a total hassle at low speeds.

My previous cars (all performance cars from GM, Ford, and BMW with Brembo or M brakes) all squealed too. I’ve just come to accept that if you want to drive a cool car, this is part of the deal. |

Car should be still under warranty, vibration when braking is coming from warped rotors, anything under 36k miles should be covered under manufacture warranty, so in other words it's defective part, I made my BMW dealership to change it before (not on this car BMW).

Have had both - the F85 squealed terribly as anyone who owned/owns one can attest. The F95 is much better in regards to squealing, however, it is not non-existent. I would agree with them being dirty contributes, but I've also noticed it more in the cold as well (maybe the car is just more dirty in winter?).
Again, don't expect zero squeal but it's also going from something that's a constant annoyance to something people probably wouldn't think twice about if this was their first X5M as it's much less frequent. |

Well, I knew I wouldn't be silent forever. I just heard the first squeals last night at 3,737 miles. It wasn't as loud and cringe worth as my F86s were. We shall see.
I am very dirty though as it's been too cold to go to the hand carwash. I hope to get all cleaned up tomorrow.

No squeal for the first 10 mins or so. Noteable, the Squeal is lower frequency, (audibly louder). Also, the squeal doesn't engage until the end of braking, coming under 20mph. Haven't tried anything, not sure if anything can really be done about it |

3900 miles on the x5m comp and so far quiet. My 2018 M5 was insane how much and how quickly the squeal appeared. Right after the 1200 mile service mark it was squeal city until I traded it in.

I've had a couple squeals on my 22 X5MC and I'm at like 500-600 miles.
This is just normal. I've had a ton of new/higher-end M cars and they just simply all have squealed. There is literally a 25-page thread on pretty much every M model forum regarding squeaky brakes. I used to get mad about it but now just don't care......those who have silent brakes are the exception rather than the rule. None of my non-M cars I've had in the past (including G30 M550i with M-Sport brakes) have made any noise. I've heard everything from it's normal.....to it only makes noise if you don't brake hard enough.....to it's the pads, etc. At the same time, I've seen some dealers replace pads and rotors under warranty trying to get rid of the issue (which never worked). There are a hundred different theories.
