Question regarding idrive7
My wife was driving our X5 yesterday and I think I have every option available on the car. She was driving and on the display screen there was a warning about a radar trap up ahead. Sure enough, about 10-15 seconds later at 70mph, my wife saw two CHiPies on the side of the road. My question is does and can the car identify radar used by the fuzz? Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks for the replies

The vehicle does have a cellular connection, so depending on what program(s) were running, this could (and did!) happen. The vehicle is one big computer, so lots of things can be done. One thing it also can do is warn you of road construction and other things. It's only as good as the network feeding it, so coverage can be spotty.

Do you happen to have waze installed on your phone?
CarPlay continues to work in the background. |

BMW has a Traffic Camera app that will show Radar locations similar to Waze. It isn't as accurate as Waze, but can be very useful still.

In the UK you have to pay for the app and then it is sent to your car, do you get it automatically in the US, if not it will have to be installed in the car and shows under apps.

This is not how it works. There is no radar detection in the vehicle, it pulls data from a database and matches it with your GPS location.

That shows what information is being shown not where the data is coming from. Look down below and you will see some mention of the data source.
Here is an article that mentions that companies that are used. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimgorz...h=1d925b905b7a
