Tried to code the "start/stop engine on/off" yesterday, coding seems like was successful. Went to test drive this morning, the car still turns engine off on a stop light in sport mode. Will try to do this today again .

Might be like the 5 flash turn signal code and you have to go into a menu on iDrive to implement???

What model year X5 do you have?
If this is a 2021 model without the ASS button. Coding it off with bimmercode should turn off ASS in all driving modes.

Make sure you disabled the ASS in BimmerCode and didn’t choose the remember last state setting.

I can code everything I need including ASS, video in motion, startup warnings, etc. All in less than 15 minutes with this adapter. It's compatible with Android and Apple. Plus, if you're worried about losing the WiFi connection just get an RJ45 to USB C cable and you have all the best options for reliable coding.
Will it let you code the seatbelt nazi alarm off? I haven't heard anyone mention it.

I find it quite unpredictable. Last summer it worked perfectly well. Throughout the winter it never worked at all. Now the weather here has started to get warm again its started working properly again and switches the engine off when I stop.
Does it depend on the ambient temperature as well as the vehicles own oil temp?

They would have to prove that the coding caused the problem in order for your warranty to be nullified. That said, a Canadian member posted recently that their dealer noticed they did some coding and refused to work on he car unless he paid them to undo the coding. He took it home, undid the coding and was going to take it to another dealer.

I guess that would depend on what's been coded and what you're trying to claim under warranty. If BMW can prove a link between your code and the affected system, you could be screwed.

personally, I hesitate to code anything that alters the drivetrain, suspension, or driver assistance systems. So far I've only brought my vehicle in to fix the misalignment of the 360°cameras, and none of my codes are related to them. they updated my iStep version which wiped out all my codes, but they didn't say anything about them nor did I have to pay out of pocket.

This method is widely known but one problem with it is the display changes to Sport. Not a bad thing, but some people may like the "Comfort" display better.

The only way to maintain the Comfort display is to move the shifter to the left (Sport mode) when coming to a light - or code it.

Nothing truly beats the original On/Off button, though, outside of coding, and is sorely missed.

If you are using Bimmercode then you can code ASS off.

There isn't one, not needed as not intrusive with the 48V battery.

You're right, it's not that intrusive. My issue is that in the summer in Florida when the engine stops, so does the a/c. It then kicks back on after 15 or 20 seconds depending on how hot it is.

The downside to coding ASS off in Bimmercode is that it's off permanently. This time of year, I don't mind the ASS. So I coded default mode to Sport Individual (Sport Steering, everything else Comfort) which turns off the ASS. If I want to turn on ASS, I just switch to Comfort Mode or Eco-Pro Mode.

I used Bimmercode and these are my settings:

1) Default driving mode = Adaptive
2) Auto start/stop function memory ACTIVE

I use Adaptive all the time and ASS remains off whenever I return to Adaptive after using ECO. Same for Comfort. If I use ECO then ASS turns back on (I can still disable as I have a 2021 with the button)

This gives all the functionality without any annoyance

I'm wondering if the Start/Stop button is still there under the trim? Like the rear fog light on many BMW in north America where the push button its a blank, but easily activated...maybe we can do the same by changing the trim ? https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1739712
