High Beam & Auto Headlight Issue

A bit of a weird issue with my headlights - In normal usage, headlights work fine, but every now and again you cannot activate the high beam. At the same time the BC button and Auto headlight buttons are unresponsive. If you push the stalk up or down for a second, everything works fine for 5 mins until it happens again.

Also, when in auto mode, the high beam does not deactivate when other cars appear, auto headlight function then deactivates after 2-3 mins, resulting in the BC and AH buttons freezing and manual high beam not responding,

Has anyone any ideas?

Try rebooting iDrive and see off that makes any difference. If not, probably best to contact your dealer.

In addition to TurtleBoy's advice to reset iDrive, what is your car build date and what is your current iDrive version? I recall discussing BC button hangs on earlier versions back in 2019, which seemed to have gotten fixed (for a change) in later versions.

They still haven't fixed these issues. At least once or twice per week I have to hit the High Beam Assistant button on the turn signal stock to re-enable the Auto High beams.

As far as I'm aware they still haven't fixed the "Sports RPM" display in the HUD either. There's no way to display that in the HUD now unless you select the option of "Always On". You used to be able to select it for the Sports driving mode only but that hasn't worked in well over a year. Regardless of the iDrive Version.

The "Sports RPM" display in the HUD resolved for me with an upgrade to 07/2021.62 a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully, the OTA version that is rolling out, which I think is a few minor versions older (07/2021.50, I think) will also resolve it.

That's good news.

So you can now get it to show only in "Sport" driving mode but not display in other driving modes?

Correct. If you set it to "In Sport Mode", it will only show up when you're in one of the Sport modes...so, it's back to working "as intended".
