Nuance is important functionally for what?

The BMW PenFed rebate is available to anyone who's been a PenFed member for 60 days or more - and PenFed membership is open to all. Period.

To state any more than that is to needlessly confuse people for no benefit; to them, to BMW, or to the US Military.

Clarity & simplicity is important.
Ok...the only one that seems to be confused is you. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Just ignore him, his goal is not to have a discussion. From some of his posts in other threads you can tell he is not one that lacks intelligence so he knows darn well it is a military incentive. Unfortunately every once and awhile he likes to stir things up and see if he can pull people into inane arguments, some type of weird pastime for him.

Thank you AAA, for THAT answer. That settles it. End of discussion.

I did read the thread, and AAA's single 1 post was more informative (to me) than your 10 post banter. Get over it.

Thank you everyone for the discussion in here. Using the information provided I was able to educate my dealer that they needed to switch the sale type from "g" to "j".

There's no confusion, just two ways to describe the PenFed rebate:

(1.) The complex, nuanced, historian's way: which uses tables, graphs, history lessons & the like to get to ...

(2.) The simple, easy description: which is

The PenFed rebate is available to anyone who's been a PenFed member for 60 days; just ensure your dealer uses "type j" instead of "type g" if they don't know

People can choose whichever PenFed Rebate explanation works best for them.

Well my car should be ready for pickup in mid October (just over a month). No penfed for me if it's a 60 day wait.

You can always delay the pick up

Wanted to see what other people are getting from penfed. I applied and received 1.9% rate including true car discount. I have a 760 credit score but they are saying you need an 800 score.

Is this what other people are getting?

Very few, if any, dealers will allow you to delay the pickup for that length of time so that isn't really a feasible tactic. I guess you could pay them to do so but that could open a can of worms also.

It was in response to someone who might only need to delay a week or two. That's definitely possible since the arrival time is such an estimate and people could easily be out of town and need to delay a week or so. Probably happens often.

If interested in PCD, that would likely also delay by a couple weeks at minimum and given the options they give you, one could choose a later option delaying PCD by a week or two and the delivery as a whole by about a month.

A week definitely but I believe the OP needed a month or so. That is the timeframe I was referring to.

First of all, being ignorant is not an insult. It just means a lack of knowledge/uninformed.

Secondly there is no crumbling of my position given it is what BMW considers the PenFed rebate and I'm just posting the information they provide. As allinon72 said, this thread is a case study in the lack of reading comprehension. You would definitely be one of the poster boys for that. That isn't an insult either, just a conclusion anyone using logic/reason would come to if they read your posts.

You have a great day also.

Yeah, that's the insult part, but we also shouldn't ignore the uselessness & pettiness of it. And over what? A preference for the explanation of a rebate Like, allinon72 is insulting people over the explanation of a rebate.

I mean, it's completely fine to prefer a rebate explanation that requires lots of words, "nuance", a history lesson, and many tables. It's also fine to prefer an explanation that's simple, succinct, and easily actionable - something in less than a sentence ... something like:

The PenFed rebate is available to members - anyone can join - with at least 60 days of membership; if your dealer questions the rebate code, ensure they're coding the rebate as "type j" instead of "type g".

Our forum members can pick which explanation they'd rather use.

That's actually not true. I believe there is still an in house program and that's through BMW HQ direct. But to clarify, yes, there is still a military discount that's through I.D.Me, but that's linked to the BMW website. You get your approval and choose a dealer to work with. It's actually pretty neat and quick, it takes less than 5 minutes if you already have an I.D.Me account.

But I have ordered my wife's 2013 335XI through the BMW Military Sales Program through Germany (BMW AG) Direct. Those incentives and discounts surpass the "PenFed" promotion. I've also ordered my 2022 BMW X5 direct through BMW AG again and the discounts and incentives also surpass the PenFed Promotion substantially.

I understand this thread is about PenFed, but if you are Active Duty Military or deployed overseas, there are much better options out there. And you're dealing with BMW HQ out of Munich Germany, which is pretty awesome in my opinion. The customer service and experience is pretty phenomenal. It has exceeded my expectations every time.
