Vehicle not Receiving OTA Updates
I've had my 2021 X5MC a year now. In that time, my car has yet to receive a iDrive S/W update. It's been at 11/2020.36 since delivery.
A month after I got the car, it did receive and install a Navigation Map update from 2020-3 to 2020-4 for the CA, HI, NV region. A couple days ago I noticed when I checked for a mapping update, it stated that a New Initialization was Required. I just called BMW assist and he said my car has to receive the iDrive S/W update before it can accept the mapping S/W update. So today I called BMW Genius for some help. After they had me start the engine and make sure my vehicle had a clear sightline outside to try and have the iDrive search for an update. After a few minutes, like many times when I've tried before, it stated that my vehicle has the most current update. But according to the Genius, he said my vehicle should have received at least two iDrive S/W updates. He stated that I will have to have the dealer diagnose it. I bring it in next week for it's first annual service. I can imagine how that will go. I feel that when I brought my car in for the 1,200 mile service earlier this year, that somehow the tech turned off OTA updates. Is that even possible? Who knows. Anyone else have a similar problem? If so, did they find a cure. |

I've had my 2021 X6MC since December 2020 and never had an OTA update or been notified via app or car that one is available. I am on the same SW as you, which was updated from the previous (factory installed) by dealer when I took delivery.

Same here though I have a more (but not most) recent version. What concerns me is that the latest OTA includes safety fixes to front collision avoidance, which I am eager to get.

I received the March update but only after I checked for it inside the car. I understand there's supposed to be a newer update (November 2021?), but the car doesn't find it. And the phone app is useless since it can supposedly download the update but I've never see that work either.

BMW parcels out update notices on their own schedule...it's not like a windows or iPhone update where everyone can get it after the same date...it took about 2-months after the first people were getting the last one (in my case, 03/2021) before it showed up on mine for me to install.
