It's a shame that BMW now is still hiding behind dealers and pretending this drama never happened.

But think in another way, you do have a chance to cancel and reorder because your car is still in transit.

For those who have accepted their touchless cars, I hope they never know the touchscreen is back.

Did order an X6 last week, and right of the bat, the dealership let me know that the Touch screen wasn't happening.

Seems like the system is updated and once the order is accepted (status=111) ALL options are confirmed including deletes, show reordering may not get people what they want.

We'll probably see more once the January allocations are released.

While I don't think the touchscreens are back permanently, I wouldn't put too much credence into that post regarding what the dealer said. We don't know if he was just repeating the message from BMWNA or if he actually saw the deletions on the Vehicle Inquiry. My guess is it was the former but maybe the OP can check his MyGarage to see if they show.

Okay, I didn't read it that way but could have missed a post. I just saw where he said the dealer said there was no touch screen and another saying it was in 111. I probably miss the one regarding the Vehicle Inquiry showing the deletion.

Just touched base (no pun intended), with my AD sales higher up; reply: there has been no notification from BMW that anything has changed, Touch screen option remains unavailable.

I wonder if there is any connection between those who ordered glass controls and those who got a touchless screen? The option to scribble on the standard idrive controller makes a difference for ease of use if you don’t have a touchscreen.

I just asked my SA if I decline my ordered (touch less) X5 that just arrived, and order a new one, would it have a touchscreen … he said he hasn't received any info from BMW indicating anything has changed, nor has he seen any removed features make a return. Not super helpful but wanted to let folks know…

Headed to the dealer tomorrow to visit "my" car and test out the touchless functionality and decide if I should keep.

I thought that may be the case, they are going off the memo and not what shows, or doesn’t show, on the Vehicle Inquiry.

I ordered my X5 on 10/7 and it has the executive package. Not sure if it made any difference, but it's on it's way to my Houston dealer as we speak and no deletions have been made. Looks like I lucked out with the touchscreen.

That makes sense for them to say that. While recently all X5s seemed to have built with the touchscreen that doesn’t mean the shortage is over.

My order updated from prod date of 12/02 > 11/29.

Still no deletion codes posted to options. Im still not sure how accurate this is, or if they don't add it until it shows up to the dealer. But I will keep this thread posted each time I find changes.

When deletions were happening they were happening right before the car went onto the line. If you make it off the line to the quality control step without seeing deletions you can be pretty confident that the build was completed as is.

I pieced together the executive package - got everything but the lights in the sunroof - not my thing. Anyway, I also got a touchscreen (and hitch). I’m glad after sitting and playing with the tech in the car. The touchscreen would be a dealbreaker for me after seeing how it all works.

Preparing to pickup my X6 and talked w/the CA. Take the following for what it is worth.

The touch screen is NOT back. It may not show the delete when in a preorder status, 111 or 112. Once in 150 you may see the delete but after that the order should be locked and no changes should happen.

Some of the things happening...

- X3/X4 shadowline packages arriving with chrome grills
- M3 stuck at VPC waiting for radio software patch or something, finally arrived
- X vehicles arriving with 21" wheels and summer tires
- Sirius XM missing
- etc.

BTW, CA said my X6 was one of or the only one that arrived as ordered!

I ordered mine 8/24 and production date is 12/5. We got every option so I am being told zero options are getting cut since it's loaded and M package (e45) with individual paint and individually interior..

I'll reject it without tow and touchscreen

The configuration of the vehicle has no effect on whether the touchscreen is dropped or not. It all depends on the timing. Right now it seems that they have a supply of touchscreens and hopefully that continues.

Again, we don't know whether vehicle config has an impact or not, it's pure speculation to say it doesn't ...

It wouldn't be surprising if config did have an impact for production / product reasons that aren't obvious to outsiders; or if it doesn't now, it will in the future ... we just don't know.

Also, not sure we'd call the X5/6Ms or Alpinas "configuration" since terminology grey area, but AFAIK they've been excluded so far.
