My X5 arrived at the dealer today, but they can't deliver until the MSO arrives (apparently it is sent separately from the car). Anyone know how long this usually takes?

11/24 - Scheduled for production

Where in the my bmw garage you can see touchscreen is available or not

Is there any separate line item for touchscreen under standard feature?

Thanks goodness! Thanks for sharing. Was afraid that I may have to resort to checking out an XC90 instead. I value audio systems as much as driving, so this is a relief to hear.

BTW, I was told by a former purchasing manager at BMW this past summer that chips from Bosch would be increased in the 2nd half of 2021. Although I doubt Harman, suppler of B&W systems for BMW, gets chips from Bosch, new car supplies for BMW seems to be getting better for 1H22.

Welcome to the forum. In most instances it seemed they only added the deletes once the vehicle was just starting/finishing the assembly. Once you see the vehicle in the QC or later status then check and/or have your CA run a Vehicle Inquiry.

It means for now I can tell I have touchscreen. And if it's deleted at any point in process, there will be separate line item for delete.

I thought as I am not seeing touchscreen, I don't have it

It's not on the homepage or in the "big red font" you requested, but BMW has updated the web info to reflect some vehicles built in late 2021 shipping with no touchscreen.

This is taken directly from the Standard Features page for the X5 under Instruments and Controls.

"Live Cockpit Professional features a 12.3" digital instrument cluster and 12.3" touchscreen central information display. The multi-input iDrive 7.0 system is operated by voice or iDrive touchpad Controller. We shall see if this document changes in January to include late 2021 and early 2022.....Hopefully not.

The part I do not understand is if BMW knew their OEM (Visteon) would only be able to meet production demands if they shipped some LCD's with no touch, then why on earth would BMW build Priority 1 (customer ordered cars) with no Touchscreen? They fairly easily could have shifted production slots around to help ensure Priority 1 orders received Touchscreens. BMW knows that many Priority 1 orders are enthusiasts and the most likely to be upset if their new car arrived w/o touch.

And for those who feel BMW did not know Visteon (or whomever) could deliver some, or had no data of how many LCD's they could deliver with touch, I say BS. BMW knows and Visteon gives them fairly exact figures based on incoming components to their contract manufacturer building their PCB's and assembling their finished goods.

Well outside of all the dealers in northern va charging 10k over sticker, i grabbed this one for 2k on top of the 3250 military discount, off of the sticker. I had a 44k lexus trade in.

What about Air suspension?

That is correct. The touchscreen is not listed as an item.

You always will get air suspension on the 45e, they can not be produced without it so you will be fine.

From what I understand there are no models with non-touchscreen. So how would BMW find themselves with a stock of non-touchscreen displays unless they planned for it or engineered around some technical issue?

The issue is one or more semiconductors were not available to allow them to complete the PCB on backside of the LCD (required for touch). So, they likely built the PCBs without those component(s) until inventory arrived.

Fingers crossed regarding touchscreen. I'm a little jealous they just announced all M and M Sport ordered starting January will get the vintage/retro roundel.

(a.) How do we know this is true?

Give Genius or your CA a call and they can give you your build week. Production Begins means that a VIN has been assigned and parts ordered/allocated not that assembly has started.
